I'm going to attempt to salvage and reuse the laminex off the table and the slide lid over the stove - on both, the chipboard is deteriorating. I was planning on using a heat gun and a scraper to soften the glue and lift the laminex. Has anyone had any experience doing this or is there a better way?? Both these are installed in a 71 Olympic Debonair if makes any difference. Thanks Greg

I'm not claiming this to be my idea, but it really does the job very quickly. Get a can of spray gun cleaner from an auto store, loosen the edge of the laminate, tip a little gun wash in and keep going. Please use safety equipment, but it makes the job fast and easy!

I seen laminex literally peel itself off chipboard from being left out in the rain for a few days.

In the dim recesses of my mind I do remember a fellow on here a few years ago that did up laminex table tops. He also used the water method of removing the laminate.

Thanks Guys, I'll put it out in the weather because it's sure to rain between now and the weekend. If it doesn't, I'll use the glue remover/cleaner! Cheers. Greg

Tip - Pour Hot water to speed up the expansion of the particle board.
