:)Hello everyone I am needing some info on some things needed for my new Viscount. We have already been busy trying to get the house paint off the outside of the van as well as the hideous undercoat layered over the entire interior of the van including the vinyl. I have finally after hours of scrubbing unveiled a gorgeous forest green with cream sides embossed vinyl on the seats and walls...the single beds are not too bad but the front dinette seats are unfortunately too far gone. I think they had sadly been left outside due to their condition. The van would of been lovely before the previous owner aquired it but luckily we have saved her. I know it is a big call but I am just putting it out there if someone has any of this old interior laying about I would love to hear from you. Also does anyone know where I could get the old style lino in colours other than black and white as the original has been replaced with modern woodgrain lino tiles. Flowergirlz xo

Well done with all the scrubbing Flowergirlz. At least you were able to save the single beds and can use them as inspiration for your dinette cushions. I'm really not a fan of the black & white check so I've been researching vinyl and so far my favourite is Forbo marmoleum tiles - they come in a fab range of colours but I'm not sure if you can buy individual tiles or have to purchase a box full of each colour that you want - I'd love a green & orange combo. I haven't purchased any and I suspect it's pretty pricey. Instead I bought an offcut of commercial grade vinyl from the local carpet shop. It's a dark charcoal in a mottled swirly pattern and only cost me $60 instead of about $300 and will do the job for now. I've laid vinyl before so I know how easy it is although commercial grade is going to be a little tougher to cut! I still want the marmoleum tiles though! They also offer retro look marmoleum in sheet form, but I'm pretty sure you can't get the original look vinyl anymore. If you find any, let me know!

Hi there I wrote to you whilst I was away...took advantage on the apples in the foyer and got on vv forum...lol. Now back so can get stuck back in vanning! I stuck my head in the door yesterday and thought I really need to get these seats and flooring sorted. So posted an ad. I think like all projects I have opened a can of worms...but should be fun as my last van was mint (Olympic) so was nothing to do but decorate. I am the same...I don't like the black and white check lino either...seems its everywhere just wanted something just a little different. The lino you chose sounds lovely. I will go into town today and have a look in the carpet place they have a lino section so will see what they have. I loved reading your letter about the painting etc...its a hard choice but you are right...sometimes it is easier to just go with it. The previous owner gave me a heap of brand new paint and undercoat...all white...lol...so I was thinking I could get it tinted in a colour for the walls. It would really freshen it up. He also attempted to put wallpaper up and in doing so peeled off the old wallpaper too. So the wallpaper is looking a little worse for wear..I may have to live with it for now and paint where he had undercoated and get the undercoast off the cupboard doors to reveal the woodgrain laminate. I also discovered there was laminex at the back round the window he had coated too...so will get all that off...less for me to paint. I saw you were after an oyster light. Did you manage to get one? I know of a great lighting place near where I live that has a lot of old stock I am going in today to see if he can help me as the existing ones are plastic and they have seen better days. I only have 2 of them and I need 3. Hoping to get some nice old glass ones. Let me know if you need anything. Chat again soon:)xo

Hi Flowergirlz
I have a 1966 15' Viscount Ambassador and am currently in the process of sanding down the inside to give it a makeover. My current floor covering is a wood-grain lino which will eventually go but when pulling up a corner I note that there are some reasonably nice brown and white chequered, what appear to be original tiles underneath. I don't know that I will keep them in the end but that stage may be some time off yet. Mine has the original (??) two oyster 240v lights which I have removed as I am installing 12v lighting throughout. When joining this forum I attempted to set up the photo process but it didn't work for me and being at the end of a long day didn't help, so I will have to attempt the process again and can upload some photos again of the floor tiles. I am in SA, don't know if that helps at all. Are you close to there because I would like to have the opportunity to look at your van and discuss similarities. I'm currently out of the country but back soon. Regards, Mibosa.

Hi there Mibosa,
Oh wow....I would love to share the makeover adventure with you...and would be keen to see some pics of your van as well. When I have a spare chance to upload some pics and if I work it out I will let you know too:) Oh how exciting...I would be very interested in the original lino as I am trying to restore back to original as much as possible. I am also on the hunt for oyster lights as mine has 3 inside but only 2 with plastic covers one of which is a bit melted and worse for wear. I went into a local old lighting shop yesterday to get some old glass covers but he didn't have any to suit. I am located in Northern Nsw but we can swap piccies on here:)Look forward to chatting again soon:)

G'day flowergirlz, When you master the photobucket monster don't forget to put a photo of the original Lino in the VINTAGE LINO PATTERNS thread will you ? Reading through that thread might inspire you to hang onto the original if it's possible, you and the Lazy Glamper will be very lucky to find any fair dinkum LINO, although it has happened on rare occasions, keep an eye on eBay ....as Lazy Glamper Lisa has mentioned Marmoleum is a good alternative these days. PHOTOS ! We must have photos .... what problems are you having with it ? , can you get photos from your computer into photobucket OK ? ....are you having trouble getting them out of photobucket onto a document or into your post ? That's it really, two steps I'm sure you'll beat it if you really really try Cobber.

Hi Cobber,
Can't quite understand your message sorry...but I don't have any original lino in my van it was all ripped up and modern vinyl tiles put in. I am also not having trouble uploading pictures of my van just haven't had a chance to do it as yet. Maybe the message was for someone else???
