Hi All,
I have just got my external lights working on the van (stop tail indicators and clearence lights) There isn't an earth/ground wire in the whole van that's running to the lights (original wiring) The circuit uses the cladding/ chassis as ground. I solved this lack of earth wire by earthing trailer plug to chassis now my lights work perfect.
What I would like to know is how common is it to be lacking earth wire in vintage vans?
My last camper 1976 ACT pop top had an earth wire and also had original wiring.

I just earthed to the draw bar for now, when I install the 12v battery system I'll fix more earths. They work now and all in need is a tail light lense. Hopefully I can find some NOS.
