Can anyone hazard a guess the weight of my 16 foot 1950's bondwood with a full steel chassis? Or do you have one around the same size which would be a comparable weight? Lannie is finally coming together and we are in the process of purchasing a new car and its tow capacity is 1650kg.

Hi,
Not sure what it would weigh, but I put our 1956 Deejay 19 foot tandem ply van over the Ballina Council weighbridge a while back, on the way home from using it. It was 1720 with all our stuff in it, so that's an indication yours would have to be less than your 1650 allowed. I would guess around 1400 fully loaded for something like yours, & it would be an easy tow for your 57. Our Crewman ute V6 easily tows our tandem.
Its looking good, you must be happy with how the rebuild is going

Well that is good news! Thank you!! I was thinking it would weigh close to 2000kg being all wood, yet my husband assured me it would be under the 1650kg. We have two vintage Chevys, a red '53 Bel Air and the black 57 in my profile picture. The '53 is driving now but we are doing a few things to make her even more comfortable to drive. The '57 is going to get a new engine, so it will be a while before she hits the road. The car we are buying (with the limited tow rate) is new Hybrid Nissan Pathfinder. This one will be used on long haul trips with our Lannie, unless we are going on a VV event of course!! Cant wait to have her on the road. Each step just takes so much longer than we ever predict. - Plus the fact that I'm a bit of a perfectionist!! We are looking forward to relaxing, (technology free) family time away with our children!

Lannie weighed in at 900kg yesterday. Bit on the light side for what she looks I think! (Hope she's not offended )
