I've just purchased a 60's Viscount Ambassador (Hooray) and need to get it registered in Victoria. It was previously registered in NSW and a quick number plate check on the RTA website says that it's a 1960 model. After researching on this site I'm certain it's a 1965 model according to the chassis number (E221) and the stripe design along the sided of the van. How do I prove to VicRoads that it's a 1965 model when I go to register it? Do they even care?! Attachment Deleted

Do you have a receipt and if so what year is on that.
They wont know what it is. Perhaps a copy of the appropriate information from here will help if the receipt shows something different.
It should not be a big problem.

Hi,
When I got my 1966 regoed for the 1st time about 2 years ago, all I had to do was come up with a stat. dec. - stating that it was a 1966 Ambassador Viscount.
I obtained the stat dec by walking into the court house office and requesting it! I had a photo of the van and told them I'd been researching it's likely manufacture date on this website forum. They were satisfied enough with that to give me the stat dec. This was in NSW (which most likely explains why your van was incorrectly dated 1960). You could just try calling vic roads.
Congratulations on your purchase - it's a nice looker! Pete

I was not so lucky with the Phoenix. Got some Nazi on the phone, He said what year & I stupidly said 'approx 1960'. He refused to put that as I had no proof & put it down as 'unknown'. Even though I had original rego plates & label & a drawbar weld The label had that 1900 no. on it which is on many vans of undetermined year. Someone else was using my drawbar weld & I had to get a new 10 or 11 digit one. Now that there are no labels, it's not such a big deal but I wish VicRoads would share my passion for getting things right

VicRoads requires a letter (on letterhead paper) from the manufacturer stating the correct year of manufacture for my van... Think I'll give it a miss.

Just fill out the paperwork with the year you want and they may not even notice, and if they do then say "Woops!" and go with the flow.

Well it's finally registered and although I filled out the paperwork with the year 1965, and they didn't say anything, it's been registered as a 1960 model. It's annoying but there's nothing I can do about it.

Penny is registered as a 62 Propert..... but I have it on good authority she is a 61.... SA rego people wouldn't register her as anything else for some reason. ..
