Over the past decade or so there have been many very successful annual tours involving Vintage Vanners across the three eastern states. These started off with the East Coast Spring Tours, organised by Reddo. They took a different circuit each year through NSW, culminating at the annual Coledale pilgrimage in October. vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/466/east-coast-spring-expressions-interestvintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/448/planning-east-coast-input-invitedvintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/519/2008-coast-adventure-before-dementiavintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/3298/2009-east-coast-inland-springvintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/6021/2010-wallaby-east-coast-springvintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/8359/2011-east-coast-tourvintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/10152/2012-east-coast-spring-tourIn 2013 the first 'Toads and Roaches'(Qld & Nsw) tour took place, starting at Tenterfield and winging out through Bingara ,Pillaga Bore, Wee Waa, Quirindi, Nundle etc. vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/11155/2013-toads-roaches-beaten-trackThis year was 'Autumn in the Alps'.....another great run commencing at Goulburn and on to Cooma, up through the high country and down into northern Victoria. vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/12124/2014-autumn-alps-tourNext year I'm proposing a run starting near the Qld/Nsw border. Up through the eastern Darling Downs, Sunshine Coast hinterland ,then swinging west out through the lower Burnett and finishing back down through the western Darling Downs. The proven 'recipe' seems to be 2 night stays alternating with one night camps depending on the amount to see and do in each area. Shorter driving days with early camp set ups. Showgrounds/camping areas/bush camps/pubs seem to lend themselves to the informal nature of these tours, rather than 'all in a row' in caravan parks. Dawg friendly, with a good camp kitchen or fireplace(some camp oven cooking) and a good hot shower/clean amenities complete the picture. Proposed dates will be; Commencing Saturday (Anzac Day) 25 April and finishing Sat/Sun 2/3 May. So that's a week for SE Qlders/Nth Nsw and a bit longer for those from further south. Also gives our locals the chance to join in on the first/ last weekend if they can't get time off for the whole week. Planning is in the formative stages, BUT...watch this space as a travel itinerary takes shape over the ensuing weeks/ months. Cheers Sutcac

Due to work and other reasons we keep missing out on these tours but would love to try and make this one. Parking in one spot for more than a couple of nights is no fun for us, driving around using the van and car is much more appealing, judging by mum and dads photos of all the previous years it looks like everyone has a ball.

The little dawgs and I would love to join in for a few days as this will be probably be our first VV get-together. Also gives me a target date for getting the major structural things done on the van.
Need to miss the last few days though, have to be in Cairns on the 29th for a GBR diving adventure.
