G'day humpty2, I think I can help out with the elbow catches (and did you know these things are variously called elbow; elbow/kangaroo; bird; and rooster catches?? Isn't it great how the industry settles on just the one name?!! [NOT] ) I'll have to check my stash of spare parts tomorrow, but I seem to remember I've got some of the aluminium type catches, but not the striker plate (but these are easily made out of aluminium angle). The latest version of these catches is a zinc-plated style, and costs a minimum of $8.40 each depending on who you buy from (eg. CaravansPlus ). How can a freakin' itty-bitty catch like that be worth 8 bucks?!!! I'll come back to you within 24 hours confirming if I can help or not. cheers, Al.

As far as the hinges go, humpty2... Could you get away with these ones from the USA if you hid them from full view??: hinges on US ebay Not the same as yours, but at least she's got six of them . That seller is in our list of suppliers in the Techo section, and she's about the only one over there that gets stuff in "bulk" amounts. It's worth keeping an eye on her store to see what might be available from time to time. cheers, Al.

G'day humpty, Nah, the listing is for a pair of them, and then you nominate how many pairs you want. Elbow catches...ok, here's what I've got... 3 x aluminium versions: They'll need a spit and polish, and a smear of oil on the spring at the back (these springs always go a bit rusty), but otherwise are in pretty reasonable condition. As I said earlier, no striker plates available with them, so you're on your own making those up. Let me know if these are any good to you. I'm up your way for the weekend of 19th July, so send a PM with your address and I'll drive past and chuck the elbows in your mailbox. cheers, Al.

Humpty, if you had a preference for the chrome-plated versions, they are available in the marine industry, but I don't know about supply here in Oz. Plenty of sellers overseas, as this Google search shows: chrome elbow catch imagesI looked at a couple of those catches in the USA, and they are a zinc alloy base with chrome plating on top, as per this example: Perko marine elbow catch - US EbayDo you have a ship's chandler anywhere near you? They might be able to give you a lead on where to find the chrome-plated versions locally. My aluminium versions would get you out of trouble until you saved your pennies up to buy the top-quality stuff. cheers, Al.

Brass & Knobs in Hallam have those offset hinges, not in stock, but from one of their catalogues, I ordered mine from the catalogue and took 5 days to come in. They have them in polished brass or chrome. Mine had a 12mm offset and I made an 8mm spacer to give me the 20mm I needed.

I have checked with the repro suppliers here and none of them have the hinges I am looking for. Will try to get in touch with these Hallam people. Surely other 50's vans have these hinges.....and no they are not the same ones used on most Dons
PM sent Al.
