Hi DC3TD A great little van. Would love to tackle it. Looks solid enough and is in dry country. out in the sticks near Swan Hill.....11 hours and 1000k from my place At $86 ( at least the owners are doing the right thing and starting the bids nice and low!) Definitely on my " Watch this item " list Reddo

Yes..........I've put it on my 'watch' list too, definitely one to interest a 'vintage caravan enthusiast'.
The style keeps popping up on the forum and always creates discussion as to whether it's a 'Home Beautiful' design or not.
have a look here and Here or just do search on 'Home Beautiful' to find other examples of this van.

Hi DC3Td, Reddo and Cobber, Interesting little van, eh? And one of those vans that poses a bit of a puzzle. 30's or 40's shape and style, but metal clad. The questions are, is the cladding aluminium or galvanised iron, and is the cladding original or added later? Looks like aluminium to me, based on what you can see from the inside of the door. It certainly looks like a van along the lines of a Home Beautiful caravan as Cobber suggested. It also reminded me a bit of Cardygeorge's Gertie which is a 30's/40's style and also aluminium clad (although Gertie also has a double cambered roof and a steel frame which is not so 'Home Beautiful'). The conundrum is: were vans like these built in the late 40's or 50's to an earlier design, but when aluminium cladding was more common, or alternatively were they built in the 30's or early 40's by people who experimented with unusual materials, such as aluminium cladding and (in the case of Cardygeorge's van) steel framing? My guess is the latter. There are a few other examples of vans built in the 30's with aluminium cladding and/or steel frames. So maybe these are further examples. If only caravans could talk and tell us their life history! Don Ricardo

There is a telephone number in the ad whereby the current owner might furnish further info re its past history.Certainly would sparkle in the daylight if the ali is given a decent polish.Has decent h/d springs too.

Drawbar has a bit of an bend in it?? 4 stud wheels.. 14 or 15" Austin ?? Sleeping arrangement at rear would mean collapsing the table ( non existant at the moment) to make a bed each night. Which leave me to ponder.. What is across the front ... on the left when you enter the door???

Tiny Tot looks a lot like our HB externally particularly underneath!! Internally different. Nice to think HB is not alone. Would be nice to journey with the people who purchase it??
