Ok, so here it is, sorry for the delay. I was unable to find the original photos from when I purchased the van a few years ago in its dilapidated state so I found a photo of another van of basically what it looked like, it want as tidy though! This is basically what it looked like but it had green flashes down the side and an orange, brown and beige interior.

It says the forum is full and can't upload photos?? G'day Cssherry, The forum isn't actually full, but you'll find an explanation for the message you received by clicking here. Basically you will need to post your photos on the forum by uploading them to Photobucket or Flickr or one of the other on-line photo storage websites. Alternatively, you can email them to another forum member so that they can post them for you. I'm very happy to do that for you if you like, and will email you my email address so that you can send me your photos if you want to do it that way. Don Ricardo

G'day cssherry,
Can you post the chassis number of the van, please? I'm thinking your van must be pretty close to the end of the 1960s, if not early 1970s. That log cabin profile on the cladding was used by Viscount from mid-1969 and later. By around 1969, the Valiants were being given chassis numbers starting with the letter 'C' followed by some numbers, so I presume your chassis number will be something like that. Look for it welded on the drawbar just near the jockey wheel somewhere.
cheers, Al.

Hi Al, I can't unfortunately, the original drawbar was well and truly rusted through so I built a new one one and replaced it. So I don't have the original chassis number. Only after joining this forum have I realised that you can date the vans via that chassis number Would it be printed anywhere else in the van? My research when I got it dated around the '68 era. Cam

Yep, in different places around the van, but unfortunately you have to dismantle the van to see them. If you ever have to remove any of the cupboards/wardrobe/etc, look for the chassis number written in crayon on the inside of the plywood. The mass production methods used at the time meant that a lot of stuff was built in the carpentry section at the same time, and then taken out to the assembly line. The only way they knew which cupboards were for which van was to mark the chassis number on those parts. One day you'll come across it. cheers, Al.

Hi Cam, Looks like your van is similar to one I recently purchased & I'm pleased to see someone else mentioning Alumvan. Noticed that this thread is a few years old though. Did you complete your restoration & do you still have the van? I see that you sprayed your van & I'm debating whether to do the same thing. I kind of like the aluminium but am torn. Any thoughts? I'd bought an Alumvan decal online & was pleased to see you had used the same one. Feel more confident about putting it on now. Thanks for sharing😊
