Hi my name is Gabby and I am new to the caravan renovation game since purchasing my serendipitous barn find 1962 Sunliner Caravan. I have really enjoyed reading everyone's posts, what a lovely community you have going on here.
My van has a side window missing - opening aluminium frame.
therefore, I may be seeking the impossible, or perhaps the highly improbable but I am hopeful!
Width 65cm, Height 46.5cm
I am not able to upload images to the forum but if you copy and paste the link below into your browser, you can see the van from the side view

I look forward to hearing from some of you who have bravely trod before me into Sunliner restoration.
Gabby

Hi Gabby, is this a duplicate post to your other request, or a new request? Wanted: side window for 1962 Sunliner CaravanGiven the current popularity of Sunliners (and it was only a few short years ago that Don caravans were all the rage ), I think your chances of finding a genuine Sunliner window are probably none and buckleys. I can't see anybody wrecking a Sunliner for parts in the current market. Forum member cruisindoug was exploring the possibility of having windows custom made for his Sunliner. You can read all about his restoration here: Doug's 1962 Sunliner. If you look at the photo of claireandruth's Sunliner in the third post in this thread ( New members with a 1965 Sunliner ), you'll see the two rear windows are the wind-out style that were used in the caravan industry from 1973 onwards. Somebody has retrofitted some later windows into that Sunliner at the rear, so searching for that type of window may be an option for you to think about. Maybe you could even get one of those windows and remove the little plastic grey window link boxes (the little grey things on the outside of the window frame, near the top), and turn the window back into a push-out style. cheers, Al.

Hi Al thanks for the helpful response. Yes it is a duplicate of my previous post in Wanted. I thought maybe it would increase my chances of someone seeing the post if I put it in technical as well. I'm new to this proboards business and will be mindful to acknowledge any duplicate posts in future. I will definitely get in touch with Crusin Dog and Clare and Ruth and see what they have discovered. Yes it's interesting what becomes 'the rage' isn't it? I just wanted to borrow/rent a pre 1970s caravan to use as a 'prop' in a vintage style Event I was running, mentioned it to my daughter's family daycare teacher who pointed me in the direction of a gorgeous little blue bubble in a paddock on their farm. It was for sale. One thing led to another. Now I am spending hours into the night enjoying a very steep restoration caravan learning curve reading proboards posts! cheers Gabby

Gabby, if you're not familiar with using the search function on this forum, here's a quick lesson for your specific needs... Aim: Search for all the threads in the Members Photo Album section that have the word Sunliner in the heading. How to do this: Click on the word Search in the dark blue band at the top of the screen. Wait for the screen to reload. Fill in the blanks as follows... For Step 3, the 7000 goes in the "days" field. You should get three pages of threads in the results, and if you read all those threads you will be the Sunliner expert! cheers, Al.

hi Gabby and Al - wow - we're still learning, but Al has solved a wee mystery!!!!
We couldn't work out how to fit the window rubber sample we got from Tony H - and I thought I was being a particular dunce. Anyway, the guys who are painting 'scooby' for me have said that the windows are a screw and silicone job - ah-ha! light bulb moment. Good thing we are only renovating and not restoring! So sorry Gabby, we are all windowed up and unless something strange happens during the paint job, this one I shall just have to give you moral support on!
I have not yet tamed photo bucket, but there is a little blog at scooby1965sunliner.wordpress.com/ with progress 9not so much) to date!

Hi Gabby, If you are looking for the window in front of the door many early 60's Sunliners had a fixed window there and not a window in a push out frame. Bruce

Hi, Kinda new to all this computer stuff and forums. I don't want to side-track anyone here but just on those Sunliner windows, could anyone tell me where I can buy the rubbers for the Perspex windows? I have bought the special stuff for the push out windows from Tony but he could not advise me on the other. Is there someone in the Brissy area that does them? Thanks all.

Hi blacknomad. Take a piece of your old window rubber to a store like Clarke Rubber and you should be able to match it with one that they have. You may need assistance from a professional windscreen fitting type person to install the windows/rubbers for you. They can be a bit of a challenge. Depends how handy you are at that sort of thing .
Cheers , Sutcac.

Windscreens O'Brien also have a good range. Some may need a little modification like cutting off a bit of excess rubber. Like Sutcac says take in piece of your old profile. My hint for fitting, you can not have too many hands and keep all surfaces slippery, I use water with plenty of detergent in a spray bottle. Bruce

Thanks Guys, the old rubber has deteriorated so much that its hard to tell what the profile really was. The Perspex has been held in by lots of silastic. I do know that its a "S" shape and I have the profile chart from Clarks. Was hoping that someone might know the code or something as its pretty much a guess from here. At a bit under $20 a meter (ordered in at Clarks - not in store either) its a costly gamble. They don't have samples either. Might try O'Brien then too.. Thanks all.

Hi blacknomad. This the profile I and others have used on Gracemurs and Sunliners The wide channel on the left sits over the fibreglass body, the lexan or perspex sits in the next channel, and it is locked in with a locking strip that you need a special tool for. The locking strip can be pushed in without the tool using the flat edge of a table knife handle or the like. Below the locking strip groove about a inch of rubber flap has been removed. This profile is available at Windscreens O'brien and was about $10-00 a meter a few years back. Bruce

thanks heaps Bruce. I want to use the S shape as I think it might be easier to trim the Perspex and is more forgiving. I finally got the windows out and found a piece of H rubber so that means the Perspex is smaller than the opening. Got a couple of options now. Again thanks.
