Hi all
Im suggesting Canungra on the weekend of October 3/4/5/6 & very much how it used to be a few years back:
a pretty laid back camping event with campfires, camp oven cooking, no money collected, as little or as much organization as the participants want & a bit more family friendly than the last few events at Canungra...

Hi All, Just some info on Canungra for those that are new to the forum. Canungra is on the weekend of October 3/4/5/6 i.e. the long weekend. There isn't a great deal written on this Canungra Thread as yet, because we are still over 4 months away. But it will be updated as we get closer to the time. But basically - it is held at Canungra Showground. There are facilities and powered and non powered sites available. (Smiles) Cathie has offerend to make the group booking, so you only need to mention on this thread that you will be attending and Cathie will add you onto the list. On one night we will no doubt end up at the pub for dinner, another night we will do camp ovens. There is a great pizza shop and a pie shop in town, so you won't go hungry if you don't feel like cooking. The pub has a courtesy bus in case we all have too much at happpy hour first There is a river, so you can have a swim if you wish. It's very relaxed - you basically just come along and relax and have some fun. Regards Diane

Hi Cathie,
On the N/NSW / SEQ thread you offered to take names and make the booking with the Caretaker.
If that offer, still stands can you please add Paul and I onto the list?
Many thanks Di

Golly Gosh
I lift my head out of the books for a mo & there's a regular flurry of activity on this thread!
Just yesterday met up with Phil & Louise & moaned that " if no ones interested in Canungra this year, well bug..r it, we'll go someplace else"!
So OK then! Names are down on the list! Venue booked! All go go go for Long Weekend in Canungra!

Ray,
Paul and Yoko came along and caught up with some of us at Casino over Anzac weekend.
It had been about 3 years since they had been away. So it was lovely to see them.
I think they had a great time, so I'm sure they will turn up again at an event soon.
Regards Di

Hi all
I've rung up Canungra Showgrounds & confirmed our booking for 25-30 vans. So far 10 vans are listed with me so if you want to come or need more details, PM me or post here. I'll do a cut & paste & get this up on the SEQ site as well.
Prices are this:
$25/nite powered site for 2 people $16/nite unpowered site for 2 people
$30/nite powered site for family(2 adults, 2 kids) $20/nite unpowered site for family(2 adults, 2 kids)
$15/nite powered site for 1 adult $3/nite for child 5-12 Children under 5 are free Children over 12 are adults!
Anyway there you have it

Now to food!
I guess everyone knows by now that this event is NOT our Xmas event. Samford in Nov will be The Xmas Event, complete with DJ, catering, Santa, fancy dress up, swap table. This event in Oct is just going to be basic fun camping.
So here's my suggestions for food:
Friday night is Pizza night Bob & Jacqui introduced us to a novel idea at Lightning Ridge. We combined all the pizza makings & plain bases & assembled a production line of pizzas which we cooked in the Baby Webers. It worked brilliantly & was a lot of fun. I've costed it out & reckon if everyone brought along $4-5 worth of ingredients per 2 adults, we could have a great meal! Of course the more baby Webers the better!
Saturday night is camp oven roast night Bring along the equivalent of veges, roasts, dessert, dips, whatever to the value of $7-8 per 2 adults. As roasts are about $15, that means 2 couples could provide 1 roast that will feed a lot more than 4 people.
Sunday night is curry night on the fire, Gas, whatever. We're happy to bring along a sack of basmati rice & even have a go at making chapattis/rotis on the fire. There's plenty of currys, chutneys, side salads that people can do that anyone can eat!
Whadya think guys?
If you think it's a go, post on here & ill keep the shopping list updated! No fish n chips I promise!

Sounds good - We hope to make it and I think the daughter & kids will give it a go too, it would be a birthday bash for the 4 of them. And Ray, if you are home from your holiday , I met phargen the other day and mentioned this event to him - see what happens. Cheers. Phil & Louise

Hi Cathie ,Just to give this event a nudge .I will start of by offering to bring a roast to cook in our camp oven and share with people. We can also bring a bag of fire wood. Whilst we think October is a long way of,the way the year is flying it will soon be upon us. Cheers Sue
