Hi All,
Well as of this morning only 2 sites left booked.
So I rang & managed to get 4 more put on hold in the same area.
Sites 19,20,22 & 28 are now ours to book. Once these are gone, they will have to put any others in other parts of the park. Look at site map to see who is where.
So if you want to be part of the group, ring & book on 1300262782, quote them the site number, & tell them you are part of vintage caravanners.
Then let me know by PM or post so I can keep the list current.
4 weeks to go

I tried to book 28 when I rang ... and they told me it wasn't available... now it is.. Doesn't matter... i'm happy on 36a....little bit protected from the sea breeze by the "front rowers".. Reddo

Hi Steve & Julie, & Kimbo. Sorry to hear you guys cant make it, but sometimes things happen that ruin the fun. Welcome to Kimbo, it will good to meet you guys (if we haven't met before) This is going to be a great event, in a great part of Australia. Already shaping up as one of our best mid winter runs, & as those of us that go to east coast runs know you cant predict whether it will be cold or warm weather, but being part of the coastal environment you take it as it comes. Not long to go now, just 16 days & we will be there. JBJ

Hi All While there is a void in the vintage caravan parking area down the backyard, I have been taking stock of what vintage van odds and ends I have left laying around the junk mounds. Over the years there has been an accumulation of old switches, power points, hinges, coat hooks, handles, campbells red lenses, TEA TOWEL RAILS,timber annexe poles ( I think these things are breeding down the shed) and other sorts of odds and ends. Maybe even a spare auto tent... not sure??.. haven't excavated that far down yet, So... I got to thinking I might make a tub of goodies up and bring them along to South west rocks... have a bit of a "Annexe sale" ( as opposed to garage sale) on Saturday arvo... Why Saturday arvo??.. because I know the rag and bone traders amongst us will be out and about the REAL garage sales locally during the morning... Am I right??... of course I am I also have a bit of old fishing gear... 8ft cedar rod with steelite reel, yabby pump, landing net, life jackets, small anchors etc.. Will throw them in too ... might be a few grey nomads lookin for some cheap fishin stuff???. So.. waddya say we have a Saturday arvo garage sale amongst ourselves like we use to have at Coledale?? It will be a chance for those from up north to take home stuff from us down south and vice versa,,Could be the difference between having to pay freight later on to get those timber tent poles back home. Dressing up like Santa Claus at the sale is optional... however Santas little helpers... in particular hot blondes with big boobs would be encouraged to work at my stall Who says there is no such thing as Santa??.... I am a great believe in wishing.... Anyway give it some thought.... ya don't have to pack the entire shed contents. but would be good to have a scratch around and bring some odds and sods along. If anyone has something on their vint van resto wish list then bung it here on "Dear santas I want a....!!" list Who knows it might just turn up at South West Rocks.. Other news... gunna ring the park today and book in for sunday night . Was considering staying up there Thursday night but doubt if there would be a spare site to park on Thursday night... JBJs are borrowing my site that night as well, So.. will have a night back around Taree or North haven and rock in all bright eyed and bushy tailed on Friday morning and stay through to Monday. Hope these cold westerly have blown themselves out by then. See ya Reddo

Hi Reddo,
Sounds like a good idea. what a coincidence that I've finally got motivated( read told time & time again to get of my fat**** & do something) to get serious about tidying up my shed this weekend, so instead of moving the old caravan bits & power tools I no longer need on to another shelf, I will load them in boxes in the back of Miss Piggy.
Gonna be a great weekend, no matter how cold it may be.

Hi Reddo Yes great idea. It just so happens that we visited friends in Qld and he has had a business repairing caravans. He scratched around his shed and gave me a couple of boxes of mixed used and NOS parts to pass on to anyone that can use them. A lot of the stuff is Viscount. The Koalas will arrive on Wednesday.

Yo... It seems Christmas has come early.. Just rang the park and booked in for sunday night as well. While talking to the manager I mentioned about a site for Thursday night if possible... No probs. They will put JBJ on the site next to mine for the night ... and I can take up permanent residency on site 36a from Thursday through to Monday... No wuckers. Since my last post earlier this morning I have been fiddling around making a flag pole holder for the TD.,.. while rummaging down in one of the dungeons I came across a "Stocking filler" for "Strugglebrooks " Supalite....I reckon they will break out the Christmas communal wine when they get their hands on these borbles... Yep... so see yas Thursday . Red-Ho Ho Ho

Hi all
We're pretty excited about this trip! Now we just have to decide on a van to take & pack it up!
We have a set of original brown innerspring tapestry cushions out of the 10ft Castle to give away.
One cushion has a hole that could easily be patched, but otherwise they are in original vintage condition! With label attached!
Let me know whether you want them or could organise someone to pick them up for you from SWR event! Send me a message with your mobile/email & I will email photos & sizes.
Thanks
Cathie

Geez I forgot to ask!
Is there anyone going to SWR who has an older style jockey wheel for sale? Rob says he wants a jockey wheel that looks as old & homemade as possible!!!! Maybe someone has replaced their old jockey wheel with an updated model & has the old one sitting about?
Thanks

hi all
we got back from the south west rocks weekend at about 3:30 and we're happy to say that it was a great weekend.
it's such a great spot, plenty of cafes for that morning latte, and good shopping facilities, pubs, clubs, a truly great bakery where you can get the best pie with mushy peas, mashed potato and gravy and the town also has an authentic vintage/classic theatre, "the south west roxy", set up in the community hall and complete with deck chairs for seating.
it was a little windy from time to time but that didn't stop the fun and letting us catch up with good old friends, some we hadn't seen for a few years since cowra or tathra.
friday night was spent with most of us using the "rolling door" of colin and sue's annex for a bit of a drink-and-talk-a-thon, 14 adults (? ? ?) inside at one stage. we kicked on until the wee small hours (actually about 9:15pm when we all got a bit tired so we went to bed), then dinner saturday night at the local kept us all together again for the night.
haven't got any photos ready yet so hopefully someone else can put a few up.
thanks to dennis and sue for organising it all for us, certainly worth the drive.
looking forward to meeting again at shellharbour.

Hi All, Another great weekend, in a great seaside town. Shame about the strong cold winds, but South West Rocks has so much going for it that I guess the strong winds where we were camped can be forgotten. Other parts of the same caravan park, & most of the town didn't suffer what we did. I guess we should have picked the larger nearby park, but hindsight is real easy to have. Its one of the most visually amazing towns I've stayed at. Most of what happened has been already mentioned, except for the fact we had people & vans from between Canberra & Tweed Heads in attendance, which is a big spread. I don't think such a wide spread has occurred before, other than previous Nationals & previous Coledales. As was mentioned, nearly all of us looked at Hat Head. It was sad to see what is a physically beautiful area suffering from lack of financial viability, that shows in the town having absolutely nothing in way of amenities & services other than the caravan park,a small bowling club, & a small general store (that is for sale). Compared to South West Rocks, its not a good look. We ended up with a good mix of types & makes of van. I apologise to those the I missed getting names for, but we all know who we are, We scored prime spot on the caravan park map, but probably the windiest Strugglebrook (John, pam & Sir Ratcliffe) were up on the heights. Phil & Louise were on clifftop Reddo snuggled in Aquamum ( Sandra) tucked in next to us Humpty brought his latest rebuilt home made 1951, with his rare Ford tudor This Viscount was better than new. Smiles (Rob & Cathie) Overlander, with a real good Valiant next door on top of cliff this Viscount belonged to the Valiant Marvin sitting alone Boblor managed to get here after long trip home from nationals Griffin had his Vauxhall with him, so he was obviously out sight seeing Kenny & Judy Koala were shifted (without warning from management), but still had a good time on their way home from Broken Hill Except for some of the cars, this could be the 60's Kimbo & Graham turned up to their first weekend away Some of the views This was our breakfast view Graham thought he could sneak in eating a few kingies without getting spotted All in all another great weekend Its all fun JBJ

Thanks for the photos JBJ....brought back fond memories of my late teens in Kempsey and going to South West Rocks for rock concerts in the jail (when I shoulda been home studying for my HSC ).
Your description of Hat Head is as I remember from 1970, and whilst it may not have the "conveniences" of 2014, it is probably good that it has stood the test of time and not been spoilt.
