Hi everyone, after discussions we have 3 definite people interested in this event. I rang Horse shoe bay Caravan park at SWR, this is the one in town that was suggested by 2 forum members. Pet friendly. We have placed a tentative booking for 10 vans for weekend of 18/19/20 July same weekend as last year. anyone else interested let us know. No need to contact Caravan Park. Realizing it is 5 months away we still need to plan ahead. Cheers Sue

Hi Sue,
South West Rocks is a lovely part of the world.
Not certain as yet, but I think we will be overseas in July.
If not, we will try to make it.

Hi,
I reckon one or two of us may dedicate at least one round of drinks at this event, which is only a week before the anniversary.
As a group, we have been known to have the odd drinks of an afternoon, so I guess it should happen again.
It will be all fun

Hi All,
I'm posting this for Boots. I tried to put a map of the caravan park on here, but I cant seem to get photobucket to accept the PDF format of the caravan Park map.
So we have paid a deposit on our site, & they are holding 17 others for anyone, under the name of vintage caravans. But you dont have to be a Forum member to attend. Bookings will need to be made by yourselves, the powered sites are $36.50 per night, with a $55.55 booking fee up front. They are at present tentatively booked for 3 nights, so if you want to vary that tell the park at time of booking.
you should look on the website for the park,http://www.macleayvalleycoastalholidayparks.com.au/horseshoe-bay-holiday-park. We have site 34, & the held sites for our group are 25, 26, 27,30,32,33,36,36a,37,38,39,41,42,44,46,47,48. Boots will put a list of sites with names so you can see what is available. Then you book your own site & pay the deposit, & let Boots know what site you have so she can post that..

Hi Dennis and Sue Thanks for picking up the baton and running with this event. At the moment I am a definite maybe .... The $55.55 booking fee?? Do we get that back on arrival??? $73.00 for 2 nights + $55.55 = $128.55 total for Friday and Saturday night... head home sunday. I will aim for site 38 , Sorta tucked in behind the absolute ocean front sites.. might be a bit protected from the winter winds off the ocean in July.... Will let you know once I have booked.. Here is the link to the park map. www.macleayvalleycoastalholidayparks.com.au/horseshoe-bay-maps.phpCheers Reddo

Hi,
As far as I know, the deposit comes of the cost of site rental. Thats pretty normal for caravan parks. But I am waiting on a reply from them to my last phone call, & I will raise that with them & confirm,
Good to see you guys being interested. JBJ & Boots

Hi,
The park management got back to me.
The deposits are taken off the tariff for the stay. If you need to cancel, they are not refundable, but can be transferred (subject to site availablity) for up to 6 months.
So the site allocation is as follows. I have been told that this time of year is not a premium with this park, so if more want to come than the 18 sites booked, its unlikely to be difficult to get a site.
HORSE SHOE BAY CARAVAN PARK, SOUTH WEST ROCKS SITE LIST Site 19 - Site 20 - Site 22 - Site 25 – Geoff & Jude Site 26 - Marvin Site 27 – Colin & Sue Site 28 - Site 30 – Boblor Site 32 – Phil & Louise Site 33 – Aquamum Site 34 – JBJ & Boots Site 36 – Tooleyau Site 36a – Reddo Site 37 – Humpty Site 38 – Memories 1 (Sandy & Ray) Site 39 – Memories 1 (Chris & Julie) Site 41 - strugglebrook (John & Pam) Site 42 - Smiles (Rob & Cathie) Site 44 - Griffin. (George & Barbara) Site 46 - Koala Site 47 - Kimbo
We will keep this updated on a regular basis This update 2/7/2014

Thanks for the clarification JBJ.. Had a look at the site facilities... No mention of a camp kitchen or BBQ area???... but then again... neither did Forster ... Blackheath Katoomba did.....but may as well not have. Doesn't stop the fun and entertainment that revolves around happy hour... No matter what the weather deals up... Just have to find a permanents van that isn't home of an evening......with large verandah al la forster get together...... Reddo

Hi All,
Well this is shaping up as a reasonable number of vans in a great location.
We initially put a hold on 10 sites, & 8 of them are already booked by vintage vanners, so I just rang & put a hold on 6 more.
Sites 30 & 32 are still available from our initial lot, & we now have sites 41,42,44,46,47 & 48 on hold. I've spoken to a few that think they will be coming, & if all of them were to book we will need more sites again. Thats not a problem from the Park's point of view, but it could get difficult obtaining a site near the others, or with ocean frontage.
The link to the Park map is on one of the previous postings on this thread.
When you ring the park, tell the receptionist you are with the "vintage vans" group, & you will be required to pay $55 deposit, which is deducted from your account on final payment. Then post something on here to allow me to keep the list up to date.It makes it easier if someone wants to book, if they can see what sites are held.
Looks like a great weekend coming up.

Hi Ray & Sandy,
Just put you guys on the list. Its always great to meet new people with similar interests, & luckily we dont all have identical vans, because that wouldnt be what it was like in the 50's & 60's.

They have booked site 41. I would imagine they will be in their freshly "bartered" 1956 Supalite ;)towed with either the EH sedan or HQ wagon. They have a business to run so we might not see them at SWR until Friday evening?? Regards Reddo

Hi Boots & JBJ
Sent you a PM to say we've booked a site for two (Site 42). Should be great event...by the sounds of it not too many sites left that are reserved for VV'ers.
Can you let me know which day you're going down there, so possibly we can do a convey of sorts?
Do we need to bring Xmas decor or will we just imagine its snowing?

Hi All,
Just spoke with caravan park, & they are filling up fast.
So any that are thinking of coming will need to book pretty soon to be sure of getting a good spot. Also any wanting to book in Thursday night must book quick, according to park management.
There isnt a camp kitchen in the park as such, but there is a new facility at the Surf Club near the park that can be used by anyone. JBJ
