G'day Reddo,
Like the paint job on the TD. As Sutcac said - subtle but very effective.
As for the name - have you thought of Daisy? Just seems to fit, to my mind and fits in with the 30's & 40's girls names you've used on the other vans. I reckon your bro would be able to come up with something appropriate on the side to go with the name as well.
Just a suggestion...

Yo... The TD has been sitting for months .. With the Shannons winter wander on today i hastely commissioned the bro to get a name back on it for todays run... Think, think, thinkity think.... .... nup couldn't come up with a new name so she stays as.... Revamped the signwriting to reflect the more mellow colour scheme this time around. No Roos or Rosies on the back...... but did spot a phrase in a book on American vans the i liked.. so...... ..... All done finished again... Hitched it up to the latest reddo Towcar this morning and took off to the shannons winter wander this morning ... 600 cars .. and one TD. See more pixs and story in "Runs and events" .. shannons winter wander. Reddo

I enjoyed reading your sales blurb on ebay reddo - your enginuity and improvisation as you built it with all the variety of "donor parts" is an interesting story by itself! jeff

Hi Reddo, Glad that the Splinter Hilton sold ok for you. So it's going to be up on the Gold Coast - not far from Runaway Bay. Does that mean that you are going to surprise us all this weekend and turn up at Tallebudgera on the way to dropping off the Splinter Hilton Regards Di

Hi Di The bloke that won it is driving down Tomorrow to collect it...He lives near Paradise point. I will make sure i "Oil" him about the weekend at Tullebudgera... it wouldnt take mucjh for him to wheel in there late on saturday on his way home. depends on if he turns around and starts heading straigght home after he collects the van. No "Minigetaways" this time around for me.. He has a fleet of Morris Minors 850 side valves, 1000s and one that should manage the towing chores relatively easy.. A minor with a 1400cc oval port Nissan motor and 5 speed box... which is what powered Lulu's old red Morrie before the floods dealt it a fatefull blow. Would have loved to have got up to QLD this weekend but I have to build up some accrued time off in the new job before any escapes can happen. Should have enough time stored to get out of work early on the Thursday arvo of the Kendalls Beach weekend and get into the park by about 8.30ish with the FB van and Rosie... In the mean time .. i am off to a TD wake...... Reddo

Hi All Just an update on the old "20 year plan TD". Some time back old mate in QLD that I sold it to had advertised the TD on ebay and.. "Kaz" who I met years ago at Cessnock swap ( full of ideas and enthusiasm ) bid and won it.. so.. It came back almost local here to Newcastle. I walked into the local waterhole tonight and Kaz just happened to be down here for a night out with some friends. Man is this chick a dynamo.. spending money on disused rail cars and setting them up on her property out near Merriwa NSW. collecting railway memrobilia to decorate the cars with... She has reskinned the TD and given it a coat of some sort of resin paint to water proof it.. Me being me... I asked if she would like to sell it to me?? ...sorta let it come home for the 3rd time?? NO WAY.. WE HAVE BEEN TO BYRON BAY AND A STACK OF PLACES WITH IT AND WE LOVE IT !!! So Kaz.. if you spot this email.. I am really glad that you have the TD.. at least its is out there being used .. and loved to death.. I admire your enthusiasm for all things old and hope the scare with all that stuff you where wired with tonight from the hospital shows up nothing but a "Heart of Gold". Cheers Reddo

Evening all, Interesting to see Reddo's former Splinter Hilton VV-style teardrop being offered for sale on Facebook (not by Reddo I hasten to add) as a 1934 model. The price is probably not unreasonable (sorry, did I comment on price?) and I certainly have no problem with someone building a replica VV or a VV-styled van if that's what they want to do. But it does underline the problem which might arise if and when someone buys such a van thinking they are acquiring an actual VV. OK, that's the editorial comment for tonight! Don Ricardo
