Hi - have just purchased a 40's or 50's bondwood caravan which we'd love to get a few suggestions for. Picking it up this weekend. Presme we'd be welcome at the Nationals in May in Mildura - I'm a bit unsure how this site works...Jan

Hi Janb Welcome to the forum .......we love photos and storys of vintage caravans ......... you could take some photos when you pick the van up and you could put them in the members photo album for us all to see Any one with a pre 1970s van is welcome to attend the Nationals at Mildura ....just ring the park and book in ....tell them you are with the vintage caravan group Not sure about the forum .......just have a look around and ask questions f/f ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well there is a a good chance we might still make it, I'm taking Thursday off this week as well to make it a 5 day weekend, with any luck I'll get heaps done on the van. We are going to Mildura that week to look for a house and a job for the wife ,we are moving (job transfer) That's the plan anyway so we might be able to make time to join in ,well at least to catch up with you guys and gals.

Hi All Just a little up date on the nationals ...... Yesterday I received the latest list on the bookings from the caravan park 61 bookings ......BUT .....33 of the 61 have not paid the deposit that was due by february...........HAVE YOU PAID YOUR DEPOSIT? ?? Because our booking are now in the 60s the caravan park is hiring a Large marquee ( At no cost to our group) for vintage vanners to relax in and chat day & night The caravan park allows open fires I will ask if we can have an old 44 gallon drum for a fire near the marquee (if it is cold) What are we going to use for wood........olfart could bring that old bondwood van that he was going to set fire to ;D ;D ;D ;D f/f ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

G'day f/f, Thanks for the reminder re. the deposit....I didn't realise one was required I rang them and they can handle a direct deposit, they give you a reservation number, BSB etc. and bob's your uncle. She told me they had 62 reservations...so one more since you spoke to them Cobber.

I hope we have a couple of good frosts (but I doubt it) to get rid of these grass hoppers by next weekend, when I leave for Mildura. We've had them in & around the Mallee for the last couple of weeks. Have already put a screen on the front of the EJ in readiness. Cheers Steve

Yeah, my brother went through upper western Victoria the other day (or week) on his way to Port Augusta, towing one of those "big white modern boxes". His towcar is a Toyota something-or-other with a something-or-other intercooler, and this is what he collected along the way... He was p*ssed off because he'd spent the day washing the car and van before setting off on the leg to Port Augusta, only to hit the grasshopper plague which plastered both car and van. Are we likely to experience anything the same if we're travelling from Albury along the Riverland Highway to Mildura?? cheers, Al.

Trevor Gill, who is doing a book on VVs on behalf of the SA caravan Trades Assoc has confirmed that he will be there on Mon 10th and Tue 11th to talk to the owners and photograph the VVs. He will be particularly interested in any SA VVs so if you have any history on your VV bring it along! jennison

Fly wire on all openings in the front of the car would have to be a must to stop any overheating problems from these locusts, as all trucks coming down to Melb are splattered with them and all that yellow shit. Happy travels, Hi,Ho Hi,Ho
