LOVE the fabric, SGTL! well done on finding it. you really do need to look for these wonderful prints off shore. I adore floral/architectural motif barkcloths but impossible to get here, sadly. especially in sufficient quantity for van curtains :/ meantime, great mug shot! love the frock, too. verra vintarge, dear

Roof done! Popped in some insulation Licorice, I mean Denso tape across joins Sikaflex alternative Due to the scarcity of escutcheon type nails I have gone with Galvanised nails where they can't be seen. Could probably be a bit less 'pedantic' about the slot head screws on the roof too

Starting to get a little bit excited. Only 3 windows to do, hatch to be lined with rubber & re-instated, chassis & drawbar to paint & a few odd jobs but can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Polycarbonate curved corner windows in: Painting done! Pretty close match to original as far as I can tell. Do you like my pink light?

Hi STGL - your polycarbonate curved windows, did you purchase them already curved? or are they a flat sheet? Trying to find some for our viscount?

Purchased flat, cut to size. Took old ones to plastics place in Bendigo. Did use a heat gun gently, 2-3 people & lots of glue. It's very important you mark the top, bottom, left & right before hand. Had a bit of a stuff up with one & had to get re cut

G'day SGTL, You're making great progress, especially given the amount of work that has had to be done. I've just had a look back at the full thread. The van has some great features and will be a great example of Viscount vans when you've finished. The different colours used in the interior are so beautifully early 60's, and picked up well in your curtains. The colour you've chosen for the side flashes looks good, and the pink oyster light is a really nice touch. Well done to whoever thought of that (probably you?). On another topic - how are the crops going? Most of the farmers from northern Victoria I've been talking to are pretty happy at the moment. Hopefully you guys are too? Don Ricardo

Coming along nicely SGTL, wont be long before you will be looking for the next project with all that spare time you will have when it's finally finished, a friend of mine has just recently picked up his Viscount, retired so needs something to do, plans to tow it with his Buick once he has it done, have put him onto the forum but not sure if he has registered yet or not.

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. Could not have achieved this without the support of this forum. Actually, come to think of it, I wouldn't have considered a restoration if I hadn't stumbled on the forum ;D Don Ricardo, the crops are looking mighty fine & if keep going as well as they are I might have some money for another project! Seriously though, sons Caravelle still has a long way to go & I'm sure he'd appreciate some help with curtains & painting. And really, there's only so many caravans you can sleep in at once & only 2 licensed drivers. I haven't any more photos as still messing about with windows & hatch so here's a taste of pretending to tow it.

excellent progress, SGTL! enjoying the sporadic but steady pics - especially since some contain your good self meantime, wow, she's a heavy girl eh? she's chock full of Vicky goodness, it seems had a laugh at the slot head screw protection plan. you wouldn't want those pretty spats damaged either! what else? oh yeah, curtains look fab - and love the matching buttercup chenille bedspread. also noticed you've uncovered some of that uber glamorous floor - nice! we've hardly had time to scratch in recent months, but still chugging away on the newest member of the family. not the little one, that was finished and gifted to friends for a trip around Oz - but the one which appeared out of the blue to usurp the little one. a '64 Roadmaster ..... num num. needs plenty of work, but we're chipping away at it intermittently. has already had the rot cut out, and is waiting for life to slow down long enough to start rebuilding the manky bits. it's a very clean van otherwise, and all original innards - yay! anyway, looking forward to your next pics ... will we see rego any time soon?

Thanks Issy, although I did say it's impolite to comment on a ladies weight! Would love to see some pics of your Roadmaster. Registration completed TODAY! Woo hoo. We are ready to rock. Still waiting on my mattresses & she needs a massive clean & polish but these are only minor details ;D

Upholsterer wouldn't touch the panelling so I have done it myself. A bit shrunken but have knocked together a few cushions to hide the water damaged bits. Have also made cushions out of original mattress material but not in situ yet.

Hi
Nice combination. Love the towcar, but I have a soft spot for Mopars( & Fords, Chevs, Buicks, Early Holdens, &...........) That particular model Viscount had good colour/shiney proportions in my eye.

My Viscount looks very similar to SGTL but its the 60 or 61 model, just before your 63 I think. Curved windows only at front, gold badges and similar tail lights. (BTW you have 3 gold badges, do you want them all as mine is really pitted?) My van is 16'6". I wasnt so lucky with the lino as after peeling 3 layers of carpet then lino I didnt find any VC lino. But your lino has made me curious and has given me the original look to aim for. I need to now look for lino squares and some of those tail lights, that are missing from mine. Only left with the paint outline. Rex
