Hi Doug
Lots of potential there, & anything is achievable given enough effort & time.
If I see any likely parts, I will grab them for you

Hiya Doug ,something seems odd about that roofline and upper tailgate area....has something been changed 'coz they didn't have a side opening rear door as far as I can recall....cheers and good luck,Col. PS, if it's going to be an FJ,I have a decent inner ( or behind the ) grille panel that you're welcome to.....long as you can figure out how to get it up there

Not on the road, looks to me like some outback farm boys have modified it for chasing buffalo or cows orv just paddock bashing in general ;D

Couldn't you just drop the whole thing onto a holden one tonner chasis?
Just thinking it could have been a topend police or millitary divi van in it's other life

One option I am considering is to put it on a 2wd Hilux chassis ... could be close to a bolt on job. But that will depend on how it would sit if I did that, I am favouring a full ICV build on a new chassis at this stage - that way I can run it low by setting the body low on the chassis, and whatever enginge / driveline I want (within reason). Just a lot more hoops to jump through in terms of meeting ADRs Cheers Doug

Hi Doug,
Many years ago(late 80's) a guy in Brisbane put an FJ ute on a Chevy Luv 2wd chassis( I think they were Isuzu built), & it fitted real good. It was dark blue, with a tilt front.I remember looking at how it easy it seemed to fit, & discussed it at the time with the builder.
From memory his name is Dave Hemsworth, or something like that, & he has built a few good quality hot rods.
It had a 289 Windsor in it from memory, & I believe it ended up as a drag race car in Sydney, because I recall reading an article on it.
So your ideas a good one. But I dont think Qld rego allows rebodied vehicles with out full ADR compliance. I know when I built my jailbar on a HQ chassis, it was acceptable in NSW & Qld, but I believe rules changed around 2000.
It shouldnt be hard to get the info from the hot rodders Tech Council.

G'day Col
Just following up on this, thanks for the offer. I am guessing that your talking the "frog mouth" rather than the radiator support panel - doesn't matter I need both!
I am unsure if the van will be FJ or FX at this stage - it has an FX bonnet and FX guards, but no grille, and the FX gaurds are of limited use anyway with the "modifications" that have been done ... I really have no strong preference either way, it just depends what comes up!
Even though there is more FJ stuff to get rather than FX, the FJ stuff is easier to find and a lot less expensive - it would all depend on if a useable FX grille came up at a sensible price I suppose ...
Anyway, I just thought I'd touch base and let you know where I'm at, if its taking up space and you want rid of it I will put the word out and see if anyone is coming up this way.
By the way, do you happen to know Greg King, he is currently building a full ICV FJ coupe running a gen3?
Cheers, and thanks again.
Doug

Thanks for your thoughts Dennis, Ihave been wading through the NCOP now for a little while, its a long hard road to go the ICV but I am beginning to think worth it in the end, I am almost at a point of contacting some engineers regarding feasability!

Just a thought, maybe you could approach a Tafe school to do part of the work as a project. Many years ago a friend of mine had his car painted by students at a spray painting school. He paid the cost etc. From memory one of the students got an award. It was a black and white customline ute, I've lost track of the mate.
