Hi there enidb,
What a gorgeous carrawagon you have there. We could easily climb up inside that little beauty and make ourselves at home. All the lovely pressed tin, plush fabrics and a milti coloured tile hearth under lovely little gypsy caravan stove...........mmmm.. heavenly ;D ;D ;D
Love the bright happy paint, can close our eyes and imagine the smelll of the horses and leather creaking away with the rythmic clippity clop of the faithfull travelling companions.
What a sensual way to experience travel, stopping by streams, moving along at 4kms an hour, sounds like a wonderfull way to travel and actually take in all you see, smell ,hear and feel......... ah well I'll spend the afternoon enjoying the pictures you've posted and imagine how good that pace of life must be.
Wishing you all the best that the road has to offer, may your travels all be safe and happy, and your shoe life be lenghthy.
Blessings from one gypsy to another,
retro64

Hello everyone! Yes, just got back from the Werribee National Heavy Horse Festival where we camped in the "CaraWaggon" and then proceeded to take it in a "restored vehicle" class with the horses. We put green leaves in the pot belly and made smoke come out the chimney. Never won anything before and we got "Champion" & First Prize so it made us smile a bit. Crowd was yelling "When can we leave" and "Can we come too?" It was alot of fun. I'll post some photos. There was a lady from the caravan forum there who took loads of pictures. Lyle was there too and he loved it! Told me we made it too fancy for him ha ha. Love all of your posts, Answers: Yes, you may have seen us clip clopping around Healesville or up on the Broken Creek. Yes it is about 15 or 16 ft now with the front verandah. Lyle Drayton from Ballarat can tell anyone how he made it if anyone else wants to salvage an old caravan for a wagon if that is their cup of tea. Lyle's contact details can be found on the Victorian Working Draft Horse Website www.vwdha.org.au He might even be able to put you in touch with someone who has a good horse & harness. Anyone can learn to drive a Clydesdale. Most often the horse teaches you anyhow. Loads of people asked Lyle how he converted the Franklin into the wagon at the Heavy Horse Festival. Thanks Al for the photos - they are terrific. Clip Clop!

Paint is Dulux SolarGuard Acyrilic over a Jotsun Primer (ordered from Yarra Junction Hardware Store). Feature paint is Viponds enamel signwriting paint. Viponds make a signwriters paint that "flows". They are based at Coburg North and also have paints that you can paint on plastic - so if you all want shiny colorful gumboots or to refurbish a vinyl or leather couch, or to paint an old canvas awning - try www.viponds.com.au/
