hi all photobucket has made some changes to their system. it's a bit more user unfriendly than it was so i suggest you stay with the original version as long as you can. if you need to edit any pics, you'll be forced to use the new version. (once you accept the trial i don't think you can go back). some of the changes are: - albums are now called libraries
- you now need to select 'view library' each time you open 'the bucket'
- to copy the img code for posts you need to hover over the gearwheel in the top right of you photo, then click on get links, then click on img code as before.
- the gearwheel dropdown is also used to edit and delete photos.
good luck. conti ps - i don't like the new version very much

I'm still using the old version. There's a banner across the top of the page saying, The all-new Photobucket is ready for you. Hurry! We're only 27 days away from moving over to the new site. Get started with your new Photobucket and lock in your bonus storage today!Does that mean we have to shift to the new version in 27 days, whether we like it or not? (And yep, I've tried the new version twice. Went back to the old version twice, as well ) cheers, Al.

bloody photobucket. i just uploaded some photos into the new photobucket and i couldn't find them at the top of the album. after going through every page of the album (850 photos), i finally found them way down the bottom of the album. i then discovered one of the new 'features' of the upload is that photos are no longer stored in the order of uploading, but by when they were taken or by their file name. bloody ridiculous. i feel sorry for anyone who has thousands of photos and uploads any without knowing or noting the dates or filenames. isn't it funny how progress always seems to make things harder to do. conti.

When I filled out the questionaire there was a section for comments my response "why try and fix something that ain't broken" I think it's time to find another way of storing or uploading pictures, on another forum we can upload pics directly from our own computer, is there some way of doing that here rather than go through a third party?

As administrator of this forum, I hear what you're saying, so will look at some options. Stay tuned ............... Mark

I've just been reading through the FAQs in the Help section. You can convert your libraries to show the codes underneath each picture, same as it did in the old version.
After you log in, your username shows up on the bar at the top on the right hand side. Next to your name is the symbol v and you click on that. The dropdown box gives some options - click on User Settings. When the new window opens up, look up near the top left corner and you'll see the headings Personal, Albums, Privacy etc. Click on Albums.
Scroll down to the heading Easy Linking Mode, and put a tick in the box. Click on the question mark icon next to it to see what Easy Linking looks like. Click the [Save] button at the bottom.
Find your way back to your Library and you'll see your photos now showing the codes underneath.
Doesn't mean it's a better version but at least you'll make life a little bit easier when copying the link. (and I notice that clicking the IMG code box doesn't automatically copy the link like it used to)
cheers, Al.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your suggestions re alternatives to Photobucket. As Mark T has indicated, he as administrator, and the moderating team will look into the options and see what's the best way to go.
I guess we have to realise that people like us who use Photobucket to display photos on a forum are probably only a tiny percentage of Photobucket's customers. So if Photobucket is losing market share and/or advertisers to their competitors for their major target group (social media users?), they're going to change their product to try and keep the largest number of customers - which isn't us!
We can use some of the alternative providers but they may end up going in the same direction as Photobucket, so it may only be a temporary fix. We may need to find something we've got more control over as Crown115 has suggested. However, whatever we go with it will probably need to be something which works with Proboards (our forum provider), because it may not be possible to move the forum to a different platform without losing what we've got here.
Anyway, leave it with Mark and the moderating team - but don't necessarily expect an answer overnight or even in a week. We need to be able to explore the options carefully with an eye to the future.
Further constructive suggestions (as the previous ones have been) about possible alternatives that we can investigate are welcome.
Don Ricardo

The issue of what happens to photos after they've been uploaded is one that Photobucket is grappling with. In the old version, photos were added to albums in the order that they were uploaded. The most recent photos were added to the latest page. In the new version, the photos are added and sorted according to the information embedded in the photo itself. I don't want to go into the mumbo-jumbo of it all, but each photo you take has the date and other info included in the photo file, even though you didn't put it there (but, your camera did). If you are like me and never reset the date in your camera when you change batteries, every photo you take will have the original camera date attached to the file, as well as other gobble-de-gook file names such as DSC001-0048. Photobucket is now sorting your photos according to that background information, which means they can end up anywhere in your album(s), as some people have found. How do you fix this? Go to the User Settings option again (see post above) and click on it, and wait for the new window to open up. Click on the heading Albums, and you'll see the first heading underneath Thumbnail Settings. Make sure the option box shows Newest First, and then put a tick in the box for 'Sort all existing albums the same way'. Click the [Save] button down the bottom of the page. Go back to your library and you should see the most recently uploaded photos on your latest album page. (If you don't, then shoot your computer ) cheers, Al.

ok guys, got home from the beverley pub tonight after a coupla drinks, .........and a long hard think 'bout what to do about photobucket .........or poobucket to quote Reddo ;D first, ........... did a google search on "image hosting sites compatible with proborads" and came up with the following sites: Imageshack - Hosts Images + Video Photobucket - Hosts Images + Video Imagetitan - Hosts Images Tinypic - Hosts Images Weblogimages - Mainly An Image Host, Also Audio Visio Image Hosting - Hosts Imageshad a play with "tinypic" ......couldn't figure it ...... had a play with "weblogimages" ......couldn't figure it ......to use this site, had to download FTP (as mentioned above by crown115) , .....but not knowing what it is, had to google FTP to learn about it.....it is "File Transfer Protocol" ....a software programme that has to be downloaded. No offence to anyone here, but we need to keep the process of uploading pics to our forum simple Next I tried "imageshack", as suggested by humpyboy's missus,......... and yep, I believe she's picked a winner ! I registered with "imageshack" .......and slowly but surely figured how to use it, .....and its simple .....well ......er.......must be if I can figure it! basic instructionsgoogle "imageshack" imageshack.us/register with a username and password go to the email they send to you after registering click on the link in the email go to the "action" box on the right hand side of the homepage click on "upload images" ....down the bottom go to "browse" hold down the "control" key on your keyboard and select multiple images from your files click on "upload now" wait for pics to load ......using 4G wifi in Beverley, it 4 minutes 55 seconds to upload 7 pics (or in Reddo's timeframe, about one stubby ;D) once all the pics have been ticked during uploading, they will appear on the imageshack homepage. next, click on the pics and they'll be highlited then click on the "large" option down the bottom (referring to the photo size) and click on "get code for forums" in the action box then copy all the code in the top box (of two boxes) and paste it on the forum (as we do with photobucket) and bingo! .....there they are .......i hope simple really now I'm just wondering what variation of the name "imageshack" reddo will dream up ;D Mark ps .....free calender, pink sticker and fridge magnet on the way to humpyboyz missus

Just "petting a peeve" here...
Just curious if the problem of missing pics in older posts will still be there, like it was with Photobucket if the poster quits the photo-hosting site or if their albums are changed etc. ? Is that just a quirk of PB ? Or do all photo hosting sites have the problem ?
That isn't just a problem on here, other forums Ive visited have the same problem on older posts a lot. That is really annoying, in the least, and a large part of the value of the posts is often lost when the pics are missing.
Cheers, Norm/mezmo

Mezmo, I think you would be right in thinking that images would disapear if a member either left the forum or quit their host site or for that matter even deleted or moved photos within it, it is just one of those things, if we were able to upload direct to the site then it wouldn't be a problem as you are actually uploading the picture not just inserting a link as you do with these image hosting sites, does that make sense??

Cheers, Norm/mezmo ....with Photobucket at the moment ,if you don't log in and use the site regularly ( after something like 90 days )....all your pics , wherever they're posted will turn to little red x's......I believe you can re-instate them again somehow....but I've never tried it. So I guess that's what will happen to forums like this if the majority of posters who make the effort to entertain all the others with their posts decide to give PB the big heave -ho.....unless those folks repost all their pictures again with a new host ,all the info will be gone and replaced with X's.......Col.

Hi there
I use the search function very often and would hate to see the switch from Photobucket to ImageWhatsaDoovey mean that a lot of really useful information becomes less coherent because the matching images are missing.
It could be an issue if there's a mass migration on the forum. If people leave Photobucket in droves, closing their accounts, there will be holes all through thousands of postings.
So should it be made explicitly clear in any transition that people should leave their existing Photobucket accounts in place (just not use them), and just starting off with new accounts on ImageWhatsaDoovey? Maybe even bring over all their past pictures to the new image server just to be safe - and deal with gaps as we find them?
Sorry if someone else has already brought this up.
Cheers Seeshell

Not really a problem KB, we just need to make sure we log in from time to time, that in itself isn't a problem just the uploading, finding and posting is.

Looks like Imageshack is a bit more friendlier than PB, I did a little experiment, moved my images into an album and then deleted the original images and guess what? it is still in my post so moving them around in imageshack has the oposite effect as PB.

I uploaded two sets of same pics to Image.Posted one set here then deleted second set from Image which off course not only removed them here but left message box indicating so, as does p/b.Uploaded 2nd set as seen now. Seems Humpys onto a good idea.Shift p/b pics to Image albums.
