Good result Reddo ....also a good idea about the fuel tank in the spare cavity ,I knew a bloke who got his head stuck in one of those holes, dangerous things those holes....can't quite remember his name....might have started with the letter Reddo..... It is with a forced hand that I find myself typing to uphold my unblemished safety record in the shed of invention... Ahem... are you referring to this incident?? Ok then.. I will admit to having failed to indentify the hazard on the odd occasion... However... my admission of guilt does not change the fact that I have been slandered... ... As a kid I was an avid fan of a show called "The honeymooners"... Jackie Glesson.. Art Carney... Lines like ..when Glesson was standing over the sewer manhole yelling down at carney... "Hey Norton.. I know ya down there Norton... Come on out Norton.. I know ya down there... "Is that you ralph" .. But the line I remember best from that black and white TV series from the 60s ... totally politically incorrect ... and I feel is a fitting reply to Kaybees smart rrrrrrs comment,,, "ONE OF THESE DAYS ALICE.... POW... RIGHT IN THE KISSER " Oh yeah... the big fuel tank is on panelvans bucket list Reddo

Hiya Reddo ,isn't that set of injuries from a different disaster?.....I thought the "head in the spare well episode" gave rise to the Reddo of the-wild-front-ear period......p'raps there's a spot of brain fade from all the head bangin'.....

Hiya Reddo ,isn't that set of injuries from a different disaster?.....I thought the "head in the spare well episode" gave rise to the Reddo of the-wild-front-ear period......perhaps there's a spot of brain fade from all the head bangin'..... Bugger Ya can fool some of the people some of the time... but not the kaybees.... I will give my mates at the Hospital emergency department a call...( first name basis with all staff on all shifts) They will know when I got my melon jammed in the HR ute door, they sewed my ear back on upside down!!!!.... in the middle of my forehead !!!.....In fact..... They are probably still laughing !!! People can be so cruel when your under anesthetic ( oooo gee I hope no one picks on my spelling there.... wait a minute.. there is no red sqiggly line underneath it.. may have got it right ... ppppphhhhheeeewwww??) Leaves the question unanswered... when and what was I doing when I smashed the front of the shell like that in the picture I so mistakenly posted... Aaarr well day is only early.. if I try hard enough I should be able to add a new injury to the album by sundown.... Bro is coming down after lunch to do a bit more linework on the panno... so... if I sit nice and still and do nothing ... nothing should happen to me......should it??? Reddo

Hi Kaybees Thanks guys Yup... things are pretty quiet around the forum lately aye.... The new format doesn't bother me too much... although I wander how the younger generations eyes are going to hold up in years to come with all the fine print on there phones and on forum screens.etc..cant see ( pardon the pun) why the standard font cant be 12mm and if you want eye strain well then shrink the text down to 8mm . Just thought I would bung a photo up to keep the wheels turning here. I love the coast around Newy. wish I could buy a house near the beach with that sort of view and climate Vintage vans... I applaud those that are still doing the miles and scrounging old caravans out of the backblocks to restore, or .. rat for parts on a van they are already working on. I also enjoy seeing peoples posts on their progress on the vans...Good to see some people are willing to do the hard yards to achieve their dreams , rather than just dream and get nowhere I have noticed over the past few years this is becoming a bit of a rarity?? I suppose that is because all the vans that are easily spotted from the road have been rescued already. You and I both know that there is a lot of stuff still out there in sheds and barns just waiting for an owner to spill the beans and let someone know where they are hiding. We live in hope... I don't really know if I would want to restore another one even if it fell in my lap. I have been here on the forum since around august 2004 and have dragged home / sold or restored.. or built my fair share of vans. Sorta enjoy the weekends and tours away more than the rescues / restos nowadays. Might be time to dust the rods and reels off and go back to fishing for a hobby... probably do less damage to myself than messing with them thar new fangle power tools. The Snowys Tour is looming up fast guys. Looking forward to catching up over a few ales around the campfires. Until then... Adios Amigos

Hi Reddo
The Panno is a real credit, and I too wonder at your ability to get things done.
I'm finding the small print hard on the eyes too, more so when typing, BUT I found that by selecting a larger Font before starting, and then clicking on Preview you can then type on the Preview screen which is actually showing the larger Font, and I find it much easier If you just select the larger Font and keep typing without clicking on Preview then it stays small as you view it

Hey you.. yes you.... So... You think you have good eyesight and reading small text isn't a problem.... That's all well and good... but when ya get older... all sorts of 'orrible things happen to your "meat pies". You end up at the optomitrists ... optimmomi....concentrate reddo.. concentrate... where is that spell check....
Optometrist ... sh!t that don't even look right......but there is no squiggly line under it so I musta got it right
anyway.. ya have to look after your peepers... So... with that in mind I will run ya through a quick eye test..
If ya see double you are sufferin' from ... oooooo bugger here I go again.. Sigmatism....Nup... there is the dreaded red worm again.... Stigmutism ... nup.... Stigamigig.... Oh stuff this ... you know what I mean.. OK.. Here is the test... How many 64 Holden panelvans do you see.....??
Look again..
Ok ... now hand your answer sheets to the teacher and he will mark your eye sight... correct answer is... 3 if ya look really hard.( there is one on the Holden poster on the wall) 2 if ya have normal vision 1 if you are totally blind. Those with contact lenses would have seen the fowlers ivory car...
Its name is "Daphne Daniels" and it originally came from a liitle bush town called "Strugglebrook" near Muswellbrook ... but a lot more famouser ( Might make that word of the day.. don't come that "It isn't in the dictionary" crap with me...its got letters .. so... its a word OK ).. umm.. oh yeah .. a lot more famouserer than Muswellbrook It Ran away from home a few years back and sulked in a shed with a waggot equipped FX sedan. an immaculate HR Prem sedan, a 34 Plymouth Coupe and... a Healy 6/100... ( it has good taste in bed partners aye..)until I found out it about exactly I year and three months after smashing my knuckles, cursing and swearing building the golden Fleece van... Don't ya just hate that when it happens.
After a nice bath to get rid of the wasps nests in the side roof vents. a stop at the moror registery office so me and it could get married ... it is sleeping happly in the shed of invention with "Ernie D Fleece".
Regards "Happiness is a choice of towcars" Reddo

So tell me more about this Waggot equipped FX. Was a show car in the 60s and 70s... I think the owner was Dale Grady .. or " somenameorother like that. One of you FX/FJ guys will sort me out there .. Where are you Maurie 68 Holden prem Metalic green with a parchment vinyl roof. . Had a recessed number plate and AP5 val taillights but has been converted back to normal boot lid and aftermarket taillights Waggot cam. alloy rocker cover. Jack myers headers, Big head .. I think it had twin strombergs. Guards have been pressed out slightly with a tidy HR like swedge around the wheel arch radius. widened 15 inch rims with original caps and staino wheel trims. Re-upholstered interior . Camping body leather seat. Gauges in dash.... Carpeted.. That's all I can remember from casual observation while looking at EH. Apparently the car featured in some book about the history of Holdens ... or something like that?? Someone offered $16K over the phone during last week. I turned up Saturday and bought the panno after inspection on the spot, via a traditional old farts / gentlemans hand shake, and a promise to trans bucks by that evening..... which I did. . The "interested in the FX party" turned up Sunday and after much admiration , left saying he was going to get his finances organized... yep right,!!!. Nothing more shitfull than a tyre kicker that hasn't got the dollars ...wasting your time. When I went back Monday .. the owner mentioned he would be happy with 12K....... Its on my shopping list .....but cars take up a lot of room and old bikes have been kind to me ( read here .. appreciate in value more than cars) over the years. "Daphne Daniels " specs 202 balanced. 25/65 cam. big head, adjustable XU1 style push rods, Thomas alloy rocker cover. X2 twin carbs.. ( John had triples on it at Munmorah a few years back)Tuned length headers HR disc front end. Toyota 4 speed ( section out of bench seat), 2:78 diff. lowered 1 inch all round. 6x13 inch rims. Never had seatbelts fitted....feel naked driving it without a belt on... tinted lam screen, tinted windows,,,,,,,,hmmmm... might try the other set of "Golden fleece" signs on for size Very straight body been resprayed at some stage. Goes for rego insp Monday. Gunna take some serious thinking about which pvan gets the tow duties on the "Autumn in the Alps " Tour Aquamum... this car did not come out of "Strugglebrooks" shed .. he and pam where the owners that sold it to the guy I bought it from ... although the car did spend almost all its life in Scone NSW.. it was sold new there. Regards Reddo

A pleasing result... No quite what it owed me but .. better than what I had hoped for. It is going to East Kurrajong . Old truckie has bought it. He rang me tonight and I gave him a bit of history on the car.. Use to belong to Michael Kerin .. fiddle player in Slim Dustys Band for a long time( 25 years ) , New owner "Larry" was stoked... He told me that one night years.. and years ago he had stopped at Ourimbah RSL on his way up north. Slim and his band where playing there!!! He can remember Michael bringing the house down with a fiddle solo.. Not sure if it was "The Orange Blossom special" or not Cobber?? So.. with the panelvan goes Michaels contact details to the happy new owner. I have already checked with where I am going after I die... apparently ya cant take your dosh with you down there... sooooooooooooooooooooooo Lobster and tiger prawns from Newcastle Fishermans Co-Op on the camp kitchen table at Goulborn caravan park Thursday night... first night of the 'Vintage vans "tour De Alps".. My shout Reddo
