At last somebody has woken up to the fact that a lot of Grey Nomads touring in their big white bricks have nostalgic memories of how they did it with their mum & dad. These fridge magnets were released just a few weeks ago I was told, they are very good quality...not your thin plastic stuff. Much better than souvenir spoons.....what the heck would you use 100 of them for .... But these magnets.....why you could cover the ice box in your van with these.... Or the dash board of your vintage car....get one for every town you visit Problem is I've only found them at one place so far Cobber.

Nice one Cobber, I'll have to keep a lookout I could put it on the dash next to my Castrol Magnatec oil change reminder magnet, a clever idea which appealed to my warped sense of humour when I saw it. If I were in business I'd be looking to headhunt the bloke who convinced Castrol to have a magnet on which you can write the date and distance your next oil change is due. Didn't anyone at Castrol realise there is no where to stick a magnet in a modern car even the engine cover is plastic George

G'day Cobber, That's a great collection you've started there. One among your many! I think the manufacturer must have taken his or her inspiration from C H Applebee's vans with the murals on the sides in Ulverstone. What do you think? I've never seen one of those magnets. Obviously I don't go to the right locations! But there are a few other V V themed fridge magnets out there. Maybe it's a time for show and tell...and to keep my eyes better peeled for the ones you've shown... Don Ricardo

I reckon our cobber is up to some new marketing tricks here! Can't anyone else see what he's done? Went an bought a job lot of the ruddy things, and is now slowly sticking town signs on them, so that you, the armchair vintage vanner, can order them through cobber, cobb and co, pay a fortune for the magnet, to say nothing about the postage fee, so that you too can decorate your fridge and spin yarns about you trip to xxxxxxx or yyyyyyy. I'm onto you cobber. BTW, I virtually drove past you house last Wednesday arvo , even waved, but you didn't see me!!! Maybe all them storms affected your 2020 vision! Besides which, whilst I was feeling quite crook, I didn't realise I was carting around a viral infection with me, So I expect a few sore throats from the conference attendees!!!! Maybe there will be some churches without a preacher this weekend!!(like mine)

G'day Don R, Yes there are a few tragic collectors amongst us ..... aren't there ? An interesting possibility you raise, the magnets were first released sometime during 2012 I believe, the photos of Applebee's caravans I think appeared on this forum later than that so .....maybe it was just great minds thinking alike As far as I am aware the easiest way to get these magnets is from 'Australia The Gift ' outlets located mostly in capital cities. Like I sometimes say .... if we don't buy these vintage caravan inspired items they will stop making them Cobber. G'day Ray you posted while I was posting ...... mate, I would have to be the worst profiteer of this sort of merchandise you can imagine, just think about the 'Driftwood' stuff that should have me living on easy street, instead I'm almost bankrupt Why didn't you call in ? We could have had a cigar and Vodka together that would have sorted your infection out for you Cobber. .
