Look what I found in radiator hose

When I went to remove the top radiator hose, while fitting a new water pump, I noticed something??? A piece of cord tied around the outlet ........ Why I thought









When I removed the hose I couldn't believe my eyes A child's sock.......... Why I thought





Or is it a super rare nasco part.................... or the fabled sock that Dick Johnson wanted? Why I thought




I guess he was desperate......Why not he thought

The water that came out of the block was the colour of a northwest flood I suspect the pressure in the block was a bit high . Lucky not to blow the head gasket


What worries me is, where's the other sock

You can actually get filters for this very purpose, what it is supose to do is catch any larger pieces and stop them causing trouble in the water jacket but I can't see how a knited sock would catch much and as for the other sock it's probably sitting in the "ODD" sock draw ;D

Hi HumpyBoy, there was a few rust flakes in "the sock" so that part works. Problem is how much damage has the water done to the block . Yes the previous owner used tap water, maybe the Brisbane water is okay
Do you or anyone know if there is a product to neutralise rust in an engine? I have Fertan in the shed which works really good on rust but uncertain what it would do to an engine
