In my search for my perfect van i came across this beauty. I've convinced the lovely gentleman to sell it. While he is deciding on a price can someone help identify what it is. It's 12 foot 6' long, 6' wide. Is absolutely stunning inside and been used for family holidays in Queensland up until last Christmas. It's located in Brisbane.

The table and cushions weren't set up, because i surprised the owners and randomly knocked on their door... poor things But you can see the cushions are even wrapped up in a protective cover. So everything is well looked after

Hi FP. Looks the goods! Not too big for you? My guess is that it's a late fifties Litecraft, which has been reclad in aluminium. Compare it in the Down History Lane section under Litecraft. They were a Brissy builder, so I reckon the chances are good.

Ray, you are out-of-control !!! Wow !!! You are stop on with the details. The lovely man has told me that it is plywood covered with aluminium. So is exactly what you are suggesting. I will have a look now.
As soon as he calls me back with the asking price i will post it here as it's such a magnificent van and he is such a gorgeous man. But it is DEFINITELY up for sale... for the right price i guess. (watch this space)
I do love this van, but i also have my heart set on a petit baby one of 10 foot. Those 2 feet really do make a bit different.
Thanks for the identification. Will look at it now. Ray, you are a champion

Haha!! I am still waiting to hear back from the owners of this litecraft. They haven't decided on a price yet! Grrrr... If it's meant to be it's meant to be. I've got my Mum onboard now too. She's got her backs packed ready to go on holidays with me too. Yipppeeeee !! Come on... you know you've got one that i want! Sharing is caring

What a pity. Did the potential seller give you an idea of how long before he would get back to you? If not, keep in touch with them. Good to see you've got mum on board - make her a co-investor ;D ;D
When you consider the asking price, and IF it seems a bit high for you, remember to factor in what it would cost you to get an interstate van back home - and maybe the asking price will seem more reasonable. But in the end, you have to make that decision. PM me if you have any queries in that direction.
If nothing happens with this van, don't fret, it's a bit like cars, there's always another one around the corner. I tried for 6 months to convince a person here where I live, that they should part with a lantern-roof van - my ultimate van! They wouldn't budge, for many and varied reasons. So I had to walk away from the possibility of ever getting it. Within a month my Rowvan popped up (probably my second fav style of van), at a very good price.
Hi to MUM too ;D ;D

Ray, what you've just said is exactly what Mum keeps saying when i keep missing out on the one's i like... "another one will come up".
The couple that own this van are 87 years old and don't have a computer so are waiting for their family to help them research an appropriate price. I took over the information on the litecraft that you lead me to the other day as he wasn't sure what type of van it was.
Like you said, you can't attach yourself... in any case i really do dream of a 10 footer... so if this one passes me by, it's okay. I love Cruz' Globetrotter but i know of another member who has their eye on it, so will wait to see their decision first.
I will certainly keep you posted on any developments. And if you hear of any 10' ... let me know
FP x

To be honest, i changed my mind about the van anyway. It's bigger than i wanted and when he was taking so long to tell me a price i knew he was playing silly buggars. No great loss to me to be honest.

Oh My Gosh ! Those photos are soooo funny !! Someone was clearly not watching the kids when they were suppose to. This is going to be one awesome project to watch.
I will find my baby when the time is right. I'm in no rush. So i'll keep looking over fences and see what happens.
Until then i will continue to enjoy everyone else vans. I finally got to see Jellybean today and Sutcac's van at Rodz Rock n Roll in Brisbane. Sooo cool!

I know !! Ray, can you believe that he didn't even have the decency to call me and tell me and offer me his asking price!!! Anyway, as i said i fell out-of-love with it anyway. I took Mum to see it and she wasn't jumping out of her skin with excitement over it, so i knew it wasn't right for us.
But on a brighter note, I took Mum to Rodz Rock n Roll today too and she loves the vans as much as i do. Honestly, the beautiful, warm and friendly community you have all created on this site is magic !!
I'll find mine and share it soon enough.

There wouldn't be much ply left under the Aluminium i brought a van many years ago the owner said he put aluminium over the ply so he could paint it easier when he had to, me being a fool believed him i thought when i got it home the tin seems a bit easy to push in so i took a panel of Aluminium off and the ply had been rotten under there for many many years that's why he put aluminium over the ply to hide the rot

This looks perfect for us! Do you have the contact details of the seller? I can't get hold of a copy of the magazine it is advertised in easily. Thanks

Hey suzemac, Nicky (Frog Princess) posted this back in April/May. I don't think it is still available. However, for your info it was a 1950's Litecraft "popular' they wanted $6,000 at the time. The contact is Fred and Heather Lugg (07) 3356 5243. Cheers, MM

Just a comment on buying - when someone says "I will have to research it" come back with what you would be prepared to pay (or less if you like bartering games..... often they put a reluctant seller off). That way you get a decision on the spot or reasonably quickly. If it takes more than a few days the outcome is seldom good for the buyer - particularly when sons/daughters get involved. They are usually too protective and want to make an impression.
In this case I would be thinking "what's happening under the cladding".
