Hi All, I am looking for a few items for my vans and was hoping that anyone out there may have some spares for sale. I am going to Cowra and Sydney, so can collect items from there if required. Sorry some of the photos are a bit fuzzy but i'm sure you will get the idea. I would like to get a couple of spares of these push button black handles. I am only after black ones - thanks. Front On Side on Also a few of these catches to use with the handles above I have these push button handles on my Propert and would like one or two spares (just in case). As you can see these are yellow, but I wouldn't mind having a spare of a different colour. Lastly, as a requirement of getting a gas certificate on my van in QLD, I need to have various additional grills inserted into the side of the van. Therefore rather than fit new modern plastic grills, I would like some older style vintage grills. I would like to get 2 or 3 and i'm not really worried about the sizes Following is a photo of the grill that is currently on my van, so something along those lines would be great, but am open to suggestions. Please send me a PM if you are able to help out at all. Many thanks Luv Di

Yes Joey does have a couple of the black push button handles that I can have. So I no longer need those ;D ;D
But I still need the other items.
Thanks Di

Hi Di we pulled out about 2-3 metal grills from the Propert when we pulled out the fridge. Rob will look for them tomorrow & I'll measure them up & let you know sizes. You're welcome to them, we can throw them on back of truck if you like? Got your email, thanks for that! You sound in great form after your cruising injury, so have a great safe trip to Cowra. See you soon

Dear Cathie & Rob, Thanks for the offer of the grills from your Propert. Yes an idea of the measurements would be great, thanks. I will try and find out today if there is a written criteria on the size required for the Gas Certificate. So far I have only had verbal instructions. I just thought - if I add the grills from your Propert to my 1954homemade, does that mean I can re-name it as a 1954 Propert (then I will have 2 Properts) ;D ;D ;D ;D Looking forward to catching up. I've packed the Sherry!! Louise and I will wait to break the seal until you arrive at Cowra Luv Di

Hi Di
Rob looked everywhere for that fridge grill but can't find it. We pulled it out of Propert maybe 2-3 years ago now, so it could be hiding anywhere!
So if anyone else has a grill for you, that would be great.
Obviously we will find the grill when we're looking for something else! That's Murphys law isn't it?
Yep we'll definitely have a drink or three at cowra! See ya!
Cathie

Hi all,
So just confirming, I have managed to source some of the round black push button handles, but still require everything else.
I spoke to a QLD Gas fitter today and apparently I will need 2 grills. Doesn't matter what the overall size or shape really is, but they both need to have free ventalation of 100ml sq, which he says basically means that the total space of the vent holes (on each grill) needs to add up to 10cms x 10cms.
Many thanks Di

G'day Di, If you don't have any luck with a vintage grill, you can get similar ones in Bunnings. Made out of brass or aluminium, and come in various sizes. Have a look for them over in the area where the house doors are located. They'll be with the plastic vents, and those zinc coated vents that are put in house foundations. An aluminium vent similar to your photo is around, from memory, $11 for the 200mm x 250mm size. You'll see a few different sizes there. Any of the brass ones will cost you an extra day's pay, though. cheers, Al.

G'day again, Di, If you are still struggling for something appropriate after visiting Bunnings, you might also find something to suit on-line. This bloke in the UK sells a couple of sizes of plain aluminium louvres/vents/grilles (note the spelling ). You might even find it's equal to or cheaper than buying locally, including postage to your door. I've just bought some stuff off UK ebay, and the seller said the UK postage rates are going up a fair bit at the end of this month, so if you want to buy from over there, buy sooner rather than later. Just for interest, it's costing me $4.32 to have my package sent from the UK to here. Bleedin' heck!, it costs me more than that to have a package sent from home to Sydney, just up the road. cheers, Al.

Hi Al,
Thanks for the info on Bunnings and the link to the guy in the UK.
I'll investigate tomorrow.
Kind regards Di

I tend to keep my costs on VV's to a minimun, for these air vents i have used the external case of old window type air conditioners. Most of then have stamped louvre type vents and they come in all sizes and can be picked up for nothing at the right places. You may need to look at a few before you find one to suit. All you need then is a grinder with a fine cutting wheel. Bruce
