Congratulations on your purchase Reddo, that's one sweet pick-up!
Now that you've crossed over to the dark side, can I interest you in a Cortina? I'm sick of it lowering property value in Holden territory!

Reddo driving a Ford? Ha. That`s like Reddo owning a fobbergross `van! Well, guess facts can be more strange than fiction. Gonna take a while to get used to. You might have to change the "holdon" to decor, for something more appropriate. Good on ya Reddo. cheers gordo

Hi All
Yup.. still pinching myself after picking the truck up and driving home today from sydney...XTRA, XTRA happy with the way the old '54 drives.

It was bloody difficult heading off to work this arvo . Very tempted to chuck a sicky .. give her a wash.. and ... just go cruizin. 8-)
There'll be plenty of time for that later.

And.. yes .. i have been having unsavoury thoughts about buying a Kennedy i looked at on the way to the 2008 nats.
If that ends up coming true ... well the whole rig will be exactly as it was when i first set eyes on it at Cherrybrook back in April 2006 when will and lyn came over to NSW and drove with us to Morgan towing thier newly aquired Kennedy...
De ja vu ???

The Holden nuts can also sleep easy. I have had the FB Panelvan back to the beaters this week getting a bit more rust chased out of it before the FB/EK nationals in June at Narrandera. 8-) 8-)
So.. a leg in both Holden and ford camps...
Its the Toyota Prado that is in the firing line at the moment ;D ;D

Oh yeah Kaybee..... i do all my scratchin through the pyjama shorts ;D

Cheers guys

Wow! nice one there Reddo! 8-)

Nothing wrong with having both makes in the driveway that's for sure! especially when they are both such nice examples. Can't say I knew about you aquiring it, must have been a little bit of a secret, not everybody knew it.

Oh and Freeway, if you ever want to get rid of that Cortina you know who to call ;)

Hi Humpyboy and Firefighter.....
I would rather be held to a promise of dancin naked ....
Than held to a cactus plant :o :-X :'(

True..... true.. I may have stated that i would dance naked on my front lawn if i ever got seen drivin a ford....
But as yet i aint been seen by anyone with a camera from the van forum... so.....
For now i am safe...... Have been doing some intensive learn to drive training with "Ken Kennedy" Wills illegitamate nephew :-/ ::) :P ??? who has been living here at Reddotel in exile from W.A since 2006.
He will be my chauffer once he gets his p plates... so .. no likelyhood of me driving the Effy... just owning it..... 8-) 8-)

Late news just to hand.. The NSW state gummiment has just past a law that makes it ilegal to dance naked in public 8-)
It appears i am off the hook ;D :D ;D ;) :D ;D 8-) :P

Hey Reddo, the nsw premier wants to pass a new law. That is more tax again based on the weight and size of your car.
That F100 would be weighing in nice ya might have to go back to your speedwell.
Anyway driving a Ford aint that bad, there so smooth.I just got my 67 Xr back after 3 months. My mate blew his motor up in his Ford so I gave him my spare car till he built a new motor. He drove it every day for the last 3 months. We consider it a company car and I lend it to whoever because its only a Ford .
Going to drive it to GM day tomorrow at Penrith Panthers hope no one chucks rocks at it.
Cheers Dave

;D

Yo....
The effy has been up on blocks for the past month.
Completely stripped out the front end and have replaced all rubbers.
The coil over shocks where in need of a rebuild.. but .. cant be rebuilt. So i have ordered 2 new units.
Relocated the lower control arm mounts for the shocks so they operate without any side/ for/ aft load.
while i was waiting for the bits to be modified i installed ...
A Stereo system.
Rehashed the wiper shaft / mount and upgraded to a 2 speed Landrover discovery wiper motor.
Installed 4 windscreen squirter nozzles.
Built a new glovebox out of aluminium.
Installed 2 speed demisters.....

Yet to fit seat belts which are compulsory in modified cars in NSW.

Spent today installing a brand new EL V8 Falcon steering rack and rebuilt steering column.
Blank 15 inch X 8 inch rear and 15 inch x 7 inch steelies with multifit centres just turned up from Mr Lugnuts in Vic today.
Once i get the thing back on its feet i will take it over to a mates place. He builds rods for a living. Gunna set the centres up so they clear the upper ball joint and i will ( hopefully ) be able to run 70 or 75 series tyres so that the front doesnt get punished quite so much on rough roads.... 8-) 8-) 8-)

The wheels will get baby moon caps which Mr Lugnuts fogot to pack in with my order.

Wont be finshed for Katoomba ... Hope to have it well and truely sorted for the Tour and Coledale....

Hoping to find time this weekend to take a little 11ft Stessl Tinny with 15 HP yammy i just bough for a run.....

So many toys.. so little time to work on .. and enjoy them.

Its all fun...

Hi All

Its official .. i am declaring today a public Holiday in nsw... no .. WAIT.. MAKE THAT AUSTRALIA...

After months of worry.. sleepless nights.. endless emails to Will and Lyn.. countless hours in, under and over the Effy with a spanner in either hand....discussions with a local rod builder ( and taking his advise) .. i finally got around to booking an attending a first inspection with the local RTA "Engineering Signatory"for Old Black Betty today at 9.00am.
With nervous trepidation i arrived and took a seat in the "Waiting Room".
1/2 hour passed by and finaly the main man said "lets have a look at that old oiler out there??"

After half an hour of gut wrenching worry and endless questions he emerged with a noise meter.. Oh my god.. this thing is as noisey as a concord jet when the 351 is cranked up.. :o

He explained that 96db is legal.. i planted the loud pedal.. he grinned... 95.9db... followed by a wider grin..... i didnt get to see the reading.... ;D ;D ;D :-X :-X :-[br]
Without any feedback he dissapeared back to the office!!!

10 mins went by and i had just had my second litter of 10 kittens when he returned to the counter with a ..
FULL ENGINEERS REPORT.. detailing every last modification to the truck....
I passed out..
You guys cannot appreciate just what a weight of my shoulders this was...
All i need now is a RTA Blue slip which i am certain will be a cake walk after todays anxiety attack.
Old Black Betty should be a fully fledged NSW RTA citizen by early next week.

Just like to send a BIG thanks to Will and Lyn again for giving me the opportunity to by thier lovely old truck.. and.. mostly to thank them for thier understanding and patience when i was going through a difficult time with the authoritys and asking lots of questions .. and.. favours of them .
I love you both... but i will draw the line at having your baby Will ;D ;D ;D

Heres a picture of Betty taken today .. fresh out of forced NSW RTA rehab..[image]

Her mags are in the shed. will keep em for shows etc...

Reddo... one happy chappy today.
Dont forget to take the day off work. Tell em Reddo said its a national day of rejoicing... ;) :D ;D

Hi Guys..
Happy as a dog with 2 dic... umm tails at the moment. :D
Gas tanks stayed under the floor . Mounted longitudily either side as installed way back in 2004... 8-) 8-).
The engineer i initially went to had it all wrong >:(.
I went and seen an authorised vehicle LP gas installer . He set things straight. Gas can be under the cab. Thats where they install the twin tanks on the new 100 series Toyota landcruisers.
Gas inside the car has to be installed behind the rearmost seat and vented to the outside of the car.
Moral of the story..
Engineers should stick to their chosen profession and leave gas installation regs etc to the people who specialise in that profession.

Might have to send "Betty Ford" to Jenny craig.. she weighs 1800kg.

Gunna continue celebrating when i get home from work at midnight tonight.... ;) couple of extra drys will go down well.
