Greetings Tonyh
Wow :o :o :o did my eyes pop or what.
Well done as opposed to medium rare. ;D ;D
That is a rotisserie isn't it??

Great Ute, Great colour and Great choice in caravans :D ;)
An Olympic will look just right behind the FC.

Are you thinking of a standard exterior paint job or something a little different??

Cheers

Thanks for the compliments guys, ;D ;D Reddo - I guess it's Now For Caravan - but ;) it could be caravans :o - I looked at a bondy a few weeks ago - sitting under a tarp - and the guy rang me and - well we'll see ??? - he's thinking on the price. 8-) atouchofgreen - yes it was a rotisserie and it made life easy. The fibreglass is good so I will be polishing it with Poli Glow (Info from Bob L) and I have been playing with photoshop - light and dark blue stripes/etc but haven't found anything I like - might just have a pair of 1/4" light and dark blue stripes below the centre mold ??? -Hillbilly - the guy in the last photos is Pete the panel beater/painter - he did all the good Panel/paintwork - says it will look good when he buffs it ??? - I thought it looked good now ::) Cheers, TonyH

Getting close now, only a small list to finish. :D Have to wait to put the rear floor in because when I was finishing up the rear wiring I checked the sender - catus - had to remove and get it rebuilt - will be ready in a bit over a week. Finished assembling the doors only to find a couple of handles the splines were u/s so found some good second hand ones and when we go to the USA I will buy new Chevy ones. Here's a couple more photos after her first bath. ;)

I had to send my NFC-059 number plates back as the paint was falling off - should get them back in 2 weeks. ;)

Hey Tonyh
You're gunna have to put a roof extension on the FC.....
To fit a rightly proud head inside ;D ;D

That is one top looking ute
(read envy in this post cause it is thick in the air)

You're going to look a million dollars driving down the highway with the FC

Towing the restored Olympic will be a traffic hazard with all the admiring looks you will get

Just think if you and Loveshack got together you'd need an escort just to get onto the road ;D ;D 8-) 8-)

Congratulations

Well I've done it :D - finally ::) - It's been a very long drawn out process but -the ute is registered and done nearly 100 miles and other than a partly blocked main jet in one of carbies it's running perfectly. ;D

I thought it would be good to drive because all the old Holdens I had years ago were worn out and this ute has had everything rebuilt from the ground up but I can't believe how good it is and an absolute joy to drive. I can't get the smile off my face. ;D ;D The great reaction from the general public was something I wasn't prepaired for, from old people that remembered "the old days" to younger people giving a wave and thumbs up. I think I am going to enjoy this car
Although it has plenty of go I will have to have another diff to swap when towing the Olympic because the 3.08 is a great highway ratio but a bit tall for towing so the original 3.89 will be
be called back into action.
1 project down now back to the Olympic . :o

Cheers from a happy camper ;) :D ;D

Hi Tonyh

Congrats on a job well done..
Just goes to show patience and persistence pays off in the end.
She looks sweet mate. 8-)

Mate i would seriously look at putting a 3:55 diff in rather than going back to the 3:89 original.
The Olympic is not a ton of bricks and with the old grey being warmed up slightly i feel that she will happily tow a fibreglass van with the 3.55 ratio.
I have just driven a FB sedan 100 miles with the 3:89 diff and the old car is working reasonably hard at 60mph.

Also... can ya tell me who you got to rewind the fuel sender unit ??
The one in my FB Panelvan is on the fritz and i was looking at fitting an aftermarket one. Previous experience tells me they can be a pain in the bum to get set up properly and be anywhere near accurate. So .. going down the path you took is the way to go. 8-)

Once again congrtas on a great resto.... time to enjoy the fruits of your ( and others) labour. ;) :D

Thanks for the kind words guys, ;)

Centura- Thanks for spotting that - How did you know that anyway ??? :-[ a bit embrassing I know but the wheels are 15x6 Commodore with Volvo centers ::) ::) The V was removed so I can fit Torana "Lion" fuel cap badges. "Olympic" Bob picked it as well - turns out he was a Volvo nut in a previous life. :o

ATOG - I know - I Know :P I did say 1 project down - now for the Olympic ;) - Gotta clean up the shed and get into it.

Reddo - Thanks mate you saved me some time ;) as I have all the ratios in the shed and was going to try the 3.89 then the 3.55 - so i will go straight to it , give it a set of bearings and stick it in.
As for the sender unit >:( I paid about $100 to have it rewound only to fit it and it read from just under quarter to overfull :( so I rang them and took it back with the gauge (after trying a few different ones - all the same) and when I got it back all they had done was restrict it going overfull so it then went from over empty to under full - >:( - not happy Jan - to be told "that was all they could do"
I played with it and got it a little better but I am on the lookout also for a new one or someone that knows how to fix them properly.

Cheers, tonyh

;) Never been a VOLVO freak by any stretch of the imagination, just spent the best part of my life fitting tyres and we looked after a local Volvo dealer, but they look kool anyway.I once had a 4cyl Commy for a while that I fitted 15" 5spoke Volvo wheels too,so don't feel bad it's good to see someone using their brains for something different.
