Hi All..

Good to see the light hearted banter still happening .... :P :D ;D

To clarify the "venom" in my post ( #81 )..
The following comment was served över the "tennis court net" earlier in the tournament.. so... with racquet in hand i figured i would return serve;)

The opening serve went something like this...
" The PROPER type to use in a vintage caravan, not like some of these refugees from some old bathroom and the like."..

So.. i and DC3TD are happy to live with our bathroom refugees which just might have .. at some time found there way into vintage caravans..( 50s Sorbys.. or..Nock and Kirbys maybe 8-) ;))
and Bunnings are happy to make a quid out of the replica round bar plastic coated tea towel hangers that look exactly like the 1959 example that "Federer" tried to ace me with last night..

Yup.. sometimes i wander about me too :-/ :-/ :-/

SWAT :o... Hey.. stop swingin that racquet at me....
Ok.. you win.

I've got a couple here still...I think!

Bought my first one off eBay for a very princely sum - seriously!, then found a couple at swapmeets a little later on for much more reasonable prices - so I snapped them up.

They are very handy and I'm pretty sure I've got one for each van now.

Just don't try to set them up after you've had a couple of ales, I learnt this after I realised I'm really good at getting my finger/s stuck!

Cheers,

Kylie.

Dave..... she's multifunctional mate.. tea towels, undies, socks and as Rod said tops for cossies and............ you spotted the slot head screw :o :D ... now wouldn't a phillips head screw look stupid there ???

Atog.... the other problem with leaving it outside is................ it keeps blowing over ::)

Rod /Kylie...We picked this one up near Coledale a couple of years ago and he had about four of them at the time.... about $20 ea. …..I think :-/.... and yes there is a bit of a trick to setting 'em up.... and folding 'em up too but that's one of the joys of living in the “retro age” aye? :D... nothing works properly ;)

Sheppo............ great threads never dry up, they just keep hanging on 8-)

Hi Cobber. Both of the two above pictured towel rails are currently on 'you know where' for big bucks.
Dave - 1st one has pinned arms to the metal bracket. 2nd is wall/post mounted & spring loaded.
And these Aussie ones are also available in Reddo territory & very affordable.

I see the Tea Towel Rail thread has been neglected while I've been at Coledale............ never fear, I spent a couple of hours taking photos of some fine examples of ways to hang a tea towel out to dry right here in Oz..

Here are two of the most inexpensive ways to do it

Closely followed by this one

There are more, so stayed tuned to this exciting thread.

Rod, you are too generous.... and too modest..... we.. must.. never.. forget, it was you who started this wonderful thread that has kept people enthralled for over eight pages and has had almost 3000 views..... that makes it over four time more popular than the FORUM GUIDELINES,(something for the moderators to cogitate on) hard to believe aye?................. we.. must.. never.. forget... you started this thread ;).

The three photos above from the Coledale collection”.... (more from that collection as time goes by) do not involve the use of screws it is true to say Rod, and Dave, but I was hoping somebody with an eye for detail would notice the inappropriate use of plastic pegs to hold tea towels and other garments on the “tea towel rope”.....thank you Al :-* for drawing our attention to that sloppy practice.

Let me point out that both caravans being held up by those ropes were not plywood caravans ….... this could account for their owners lack of regard for the need to use wooden pegs at Vintage Caravan rallies :(.

Below are examples of just a few of my wooden pegs of the type that should be used when displaying tea towels on tea towel rails (or ropes) attached to our vintage caravans.

If anybody has other wooden clothes pegs they would like to show us I'm sure Rod wouldn't mind this thread of his being used for that purpose............. temporally, OK Rod ???

G'day Humpty,

Not sure about the Ikea one mate, if it says “made in Australia” it could be vintage..... these days just about anything you find that says made in Australia must be vintage :(

Getting back to the “Coledale Collection”.... these are the tea towel rails in your “Janorma”.

I like the way you have left this one just the way you got it ;)

And you pointed out something unique about the ends on this one..... they're solid castings, not like modern rubbish.

Have I mentioned........... I love this van ;) :-*

OK I know the suspense has been killing you :-/.

From the “Coledale Collection” of Vintage Caravan Tea Towel Rails I'm proud to present this very compact job belonging to Cliff & Ingrid :-*.

Closed for storage in a draw or cupboard..... or you can hang it on the wall ready for instant use.

Open the lid to reveal six Tea Towel Rails waiting to do their thing.

And here it is in all its glory, possibly the most compact multi rail holder we have found …..............so far 8-)

:o :o

Blow the whistle ref... I want the sutcacs contribution sidelined... ;D

I would like to point out that i have seen this ... this.....so called "Towel rail" deployed on the roof of the Fugly van .
Closer investigation showed 2 wires running from it to a telly inside and the owners where watching Foxtel. :P :P :P

Yeah .. sure.. it had 2 or three tea towels hanging from it at the time....One can only assume that the reception via the 3 said tea towels was lousie so the decided to prop the towels up with what appears to be the "rib cage " from a discarded umbrella.. :P
Nice try Sutcacs but ya aint foolin us .

Yellow card issued.. dont try that stunt again.... ;) ;)

and .. what about Humpty 2s contribution.....Ikea... oooh my gawd.... I see on telly tonight they have just opened a new store in sydney . An area 2 1/2 times the size of the Sydney cricket ground under the one roof.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmppph.. what would a company like Ikea with all those millions know about airing out tea towels...
Nup.... they get a yellow card too.

Sorry mate..... the yellow cards are used in the world game ....soccer.

Usually issued on a first offence foul.

Second offence usually attracts a red card and the offender being sent off..
Hope this clarifys things for you..... ??? ::) ??? ::)

In response to numerous PMs.. many emails.. and some phone calls ;) from people anxious to see the rest of the Tea towel rails from the “Coledale collection” here they are in one heap.
Sorry to have kept so many of you waiting so long ::).

This first one shows you how easy it is to make an ordinary tea towel rail stand out by mounting it on a stained and polished piece of wood :-*.

Sometimes people like to make their tea towel rail blend in to the surroundings.

But those same people become extroverted in their choice of tea towels ;).

This tea towel rail was built to carry heavy loads 8-)

Sometimes people use their tea towel rail to let us know they have been somewhere, a good conversation starter :D.

And this one I was told was original equipment :-/
[image]

For those of you who contacted me personally because you said you were too embarrassed to put your request on the forum … you should not feel that way, you are just one of 3652 viewers following this exciting thread Rodnet started :P.

If you can't wait for the “Cowra Collection”... post a photo of your tea towel rail here..... NOW!

Thanks Rod/Cobber. Might have to run 'duallies' to compensate for all the "stuff"! Until the landlord has moved out from renoing his house next door i`m not able to do any work. The garage is no problem.I can/have done whatever i want there but stripping the paint/out the van etc is a no no for now.Hopefully into next year i can resume.
