Hi Di & Jon,
Thanks for putting up the thread.
Obviously you managed to make your booking ok. I have just booked a powered site as well. ;D ;D Gary and I will need to discuss it closer to the time to work out the exact dates but have booked the same 10 nights for now.
Kenilworth - not too far to roll down the hill on the way home. ;D ;D
Regards Di

Dear Dianne & John,
Less than 11 weeks now until Christmas. ;D
You mentioned that you were going to stop off at Kenilworth Homestead on your way home from Rainbow Beach.
How did it go, is all ok?

Hi everyone, yes we did stop at Kenilworth on our way home from Rainbow Beach last weekend. It has recovered really well from the floods, and is looking good. My biggest concern with the place is that they don't have a lot of amenities, and what they do have are very basic. This is a bush camp type place, so don't expect "The Ritz". There is only two amenities blocks on site, but in saying that we have camped there on a number of occasions and have never had a problem. They have put in two extra toilet blocks since we were last there, but no more showers. If you want to book a powered site their phone number is 07 5446 0555. No need to book if you don't want power. I have already paid a deposit to secure all of the powered sites and at this stage there should be a couple left still. The other thing I would like is everyones thoughts on Xmas dinner. I thought it would be nice for everyone who is there for Xmas day to share a Xmas lunch. I could work out a rough menu (including your suggestions) and put it on here and everyone could choose one or two dishes to bring to share. What do you think? For this to work we will need to have a rough idea of how many people are coming. We would probably need this about two weeks prior to Xmas, so we can do our shopping. Some feedback on this would be appreciated. Here are a few photo we took on the weekend. This is the Powered site area One of the amenities blocks The swimming hole Town There is a little shop on site, that sells a few basics including ice, milk etc, and Kenilworth township is about a 5 minute drive up the road. You can get fuel, gas etc there. There is also a nice pub there that does great meals, so maybe we could organise an outing there one night for dinner. The Cheese Factory is also in town and opens daily. So that's about it for now. Look forward to your comments. Thanks, Dianne

Hi guys and gals, we have booked into a powered site for the 24th and 25th, cant wait, the kids are looking forward to doing something completely different for xmas this year. the lady mentioned that while there is only technically 1 or 2 powered sites left, she doesnt seem to think it will be a problem if a couple of extras want to share (piggy-back) power!!! looking forward to seeing you all there with xmas decorations, nibblies, drinks and lots of xmas cheer!!!!

Just an idea for the kids. Bring plenty of floaty things . There are some small mild rapids our kids always used to ride down. Was really safe before the floods so I hope they are still the same. Also there is a water slide that is a pretty hairy ride for us oldies. That was closed off when we visited. Generally our kids spent nearly all day in the river. I think there are canoes you can borrow too. A push bike wouldn't be a bad idea either as the shower block is a bit of a hike up the hill. The floods have really changed the landscape since we camped there last and some parts are stripped of vegetation but it also cleared out the weed in the river which is good. Thats all for now. John

Hi John & Di,
We probably will be rolling in as well, probably on 23rd or 24th, hopefully for about a week or longer. I think we can survive in Deejay on gas & battery, but if a powered site is available I'll take one. So we havent booked, but from what I read, that should be OK.
We will not be definite for a couple more weeks, but at this stage we are right.

Hi Dennis & Sue
Great to hear you will be joining us. All of the powered sites have been booked, but the owner is happy for us to piggyback, so I think between us we will make sure everyone has access to what they need. You're right in thinking you don't have to book for the unpowered site, just turn up. The whole area near the powered sites will be reserved from the 23rd onwards for our group only. We are overwhelmed by the numbers that will be attending this event, and are really looking forward to it.
Will see you next weekend
Dianne

Hi John & Di,
Well this will be the quickest retraction you will get. One of our daughters let us know they are coming here for christmas, about half an hour after I posted that we might be going to kenilworth. So we cant go now.
Ce la vie, or something like that. See you next weekend

Hi Di, Your memory is correct. I think we were camped behind you last year. Unfortunately Paul and Yoko have made other plans this year. See you in a couple of weeks. Jim and Tricia.
