Hi Max & Jenny,
Are you guys the same ones I used to run into & park near at Wintersun many moons ago??Last time from memory you were in a red 28A tudor.
whether or not, Its good to hear from another vintage van couple.
We were down your way last easter on the way back from Mt Gambier. Dunno when next time will be, but I'd be surprised if you dont get a few vanners drop in.
All the best.

Sounds like a great idea Builder Des. There is a very good V V reason to visit the Steam Rally. Lake Goldsmith is (at least I presume it still is) the home of a mid-50's, 2-berth, 24 foot Gason caravan. It is unusual not only for its length, which was loooong for it's time, but also because it was built to seat eight people around the dining table. Gason is an engineering firm in Ararat which built caravans from 1949 to 1962. I think the 24 footer belongs to the Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally people and would be well worth a squiz if you can manage it. For more info about Gason caravans and the 24 footer click here. G'day Custom59,
Looks like you arrived safely and are already for a good time. Some nice rigs there, including a number that I'm not familiar with from the pics of previous runs. Are you able to give us a bit of info about each of the cars and vans - particularly the vans - in your pics? I'm interested in the design of the teardrop in front of 'The Olde Lolly Shop' - a bit different from the norm.

Hi, Dave here, I was one of the blokes who you met at the front of your property, we were taking the 76 Charger from Horsham to Brisbane, we broke an alternator at Shepparton but the rest of the trip was sweet. Since I have seen the pics I am dirty on myself for not dropping in but we had no time. I hope that you are having another weekend next year so I can make the trip down. Cheers

Well I have had a chance to recover from our short holiday. The older I get the longer it takes but I still go back for more. I guess I will never learn but its all good at the time. Max and Jenny are great people and I can't recommend Old Dadswell Town highly enough. Max, Im not sure who your talking about but I stayed up drinking with you until the wee small hours on both Friday and Saturday nights and didn't see anyone leading you astray. A pity more forum members didn't turn up. You all would have loved it and the cruise through the Grampians on Saturday was one to remember. Here is a couple more photos. Sorry I don't have more details on the vans but I'm sure some of you will be able to identify most of the vans. Pat's lovely Customline and van (sorry no details) Some detail photos of "Fugly" Bill said that in the rebuild the only part that that wasn't replaced was the floor. Note the unusual grill for fridge ventilation. Even the lovely Dot is colour co-ordinated. Max showed us his teardrop project. As you can see there is a bit of work still required but knowing Max it will be finished in quick time. Inside Mad Max's garage. Rear view of the teardrop behind 34 Ford. The tourer took 25 years to finish and is a testament to Peter's persistance and car building skills. The teardrop is also built and decorated to a very high standard. Max has said there will be another vintage van weekend next year and I will definitely be there. Will you? Mal. PS I will take some detail photos of my mirrors and post next week for davenq.

Looks like we missed a terrific weekend away.
Sorry we missed it but have already made a mental note for next year.
Will it be on the Mothers Day weekend again?
Cheers, Leigh & Karon.
