Thanks to all who attended the 10th South East QLD Get together at Maroochydore. The weather was perfect and the people turned out to see our great collection of vans.
Please use this thread for all your photos. I have just dropped the teardrop home & am returning to the coast to get the Munro. I'll post some photos in the next few days along with details of the fundraising we did for Wildlife Victoria. Rod G.
Wow!!!! What a fabulous, but exhausting weekend. A total of around 38 vintage vans, with lots of new faces, so much media coverage, followed by thousands of visitors, all eager to see our vans and have a chat. Lots more photos from other forum members, to come.
Meeting at the Ettamogah Pub on the way to the Maroochydore weekend away. Earlee was so excited and in such a hurry that he has run over a pedestrian. Quick thinking Earlee has pulled out his parking metre to divert the traffic. ;D ;D ;D ;D
This is Dave (David & Lyn Foreman) who are not forum members, but have attended most of our get-togethers, grabbing a bit of peace and shade behind their large Bondy.
Hillmansafari..Rod's new little Munro Van making it's debut
John & Lyn's new DON and their Vauxhall convertible also making their debut.
Our DON with Steve & Sharyn's van beside ours
This little critter caused havoc at our Saturday night BBQ, but soon found a safe haven up the tree
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........what a great weekend ...............congrats Rod on a very well organised event ;D ;D ;D
...............fantastic public response to all the extensive media coverage. ...............the crowds that attended certainly were appreciative of the vans and cars..........evident in the generous donations to the Vic Wildlife fundraiser...............

Reddo with all his mates !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great photos guys. Boy did we get away from the coast at the right time. I went back up at 4pm and the traffic coming south was banked up from Burpengary to 5 k north of the twin Mobile garages. I got the Munro hooked up and hhung around till 6.30pm and it was mostly clear by then. Bob Taylor did some more fundraising this afternoon so I will have a tally tomorrow night. I just opened the envelope with the scratchies. This will take some time to look at but if I turn up with a new flash tow car you will know they were successful. Rod G.

Fantastic pictures and great memories from our trip to Bribie Island thanks fothe great memories you queenslanders great photos more good memories from our trip to Morgan Mark when we first saw that amazing Reo fifth wheeler all good Thanks for all the great photos guys

Yup... Congrats to the Queenslanders on such a great weekend. A big thanks to Rod for the organisation. This bloke did not stop all weekend. I drove from Maroochy to Bendemeer which is about 20 mins north of Tamworth yesterday. Had enough of the road and traffic by then. Stayed in a beaut old pub. Big meal.. 3 beers and then bed. left up there at 7.00am today got home just on 12.
Oddometer shows 1014 MILES for the round trip. 3/4 of that was with an oil pressure gauge that read "10 PSI".. worried me when i first seen it... forgot about about 20mile down the road when I realised it must be a faulty sender unit.
Heapsa photos to shift onto pbucket. will post some tonight. Once again ... thanks for a great weekend guys.
Those last 2 are swellwillys van... inside is better than any designer kitchen the best cabinet maker could come up with.... Its gunna be a ripper when shes finished..

Halpys and his family turned up on saturday to inspect their new purchase.. all left the park grinning
God damn these things are sooooooo over rated.
Finally got a ride to the bottle shop and the army disposal shop in Shultzys Blitz... I reckon this must just about be the hi light of the weekend.... we went and got him a new Deck chair....
He wanted thisn.. but the shop keeper measured his butt and he ended up recommending thisn..
I think the bloke refered to it as the 120KG + G - string model Ummmmmm... Back to the cars and vans....
How often do ya see the accomodation towing the towcar??? Rustyme's old Austin - Rubyvale school bus.. Now just "Ruby" with original 6 cylinder power.. we ended up doing laps of the park in the '34 chev on Saturday arvo..... low speed of course!!!
Bloody 64 Holden prem.. broken down again ;D.
What a lovely couple the Olympic and "Tokyo Rose" the Honda make.
Oh yeah.. almost forgot.. drove from home to JBJs place Wednesday. we ended up on the verandah downin' stubbies and demolishing a few kilo of local medium King Prawns... and the vans socialised in the side yard..
Thanks again Dennis and Boots. And a big thanks to everyone for going easy on the "Lone Cockroach" from NSW.
Drove out through the boom gate and said to myself... "Now isnt THAT just what all this vintage vanning is about.
Pulled up in my driveway today and started sorting the gear into "Rosie" ready for Berry in just under a fortnights time...6 hours south of here... Computers might give you access to the world folks... but..
"The windscreen is just one big travelling picture show and vintage caravanning is one big blockbuster matinee that i will never tire of"

WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND !!!! Congratulations to Rod G for all his effort to put it all together. A BIG THANKYOU from our Olympic family. Everyone had a ball, great company, good venue and great to see the younger generation taking up our interest in vintage caravans. bobandjacqui
Congratulations to Rod G and all those involved in this highly successful run .......the pics show a fantastic selection of beautiful cars and v v's
I had 3 media ph calls over the weekend about the event, and we've had about 9 new members join the forum over the weekend, so this event was H U G E, and great publicity for what we do
Somehow our pix wont download, so we'll take the camera to a photo shop to put them on disc.
It was a great weekend, & definitely Rod did a good job with organising the caravan park & some( a lot of) media coverage, but the real effort was put in by the people that towed their vans to the event.
We dont have rallies, we're not a club, & nobody has to try to dominate. All of our successful events to date have been organised, generally by one person, then that person steps aside & lets someone else sort out the next event.
That is how it has been done in the past, & how I believe it should be done in the future.
Thats not bagging anyone, but we all should have our chance to run this thing. It doesnt need a leader, just an agreed direction & a volunteer.
For this event, we travelled about 6 hours each way, in a badly behaving car. A lot of others travelled slightly less, but with similar problems in the extremly hot weather.
All of our events to date have been varied in location to cater for the geographical spread of our participants.Up to now there has not been a repetion of an event site, & most I've spoken agree there should not be.
This should remain the basis of our events. Just because an event is good in one place shouldnt mean we have to go back.
Hell we havent even seen 1% of the available places, & I for one dont want to keep going up to an over populated part of Australia, not even once a year.
With Neerim Creek several weeks away, thats 3 consecutive events over 4 hours towing from us, & others down this end of the world. We didn't go to it last year, & won't be going this year. I'm not towing 4 hours to a bush van park.
I know the majority of you city slickers love it, but I live in the bush. we all have the right to attend or not, & others should accept that. Just because one or two dont want to go shouldnt affect a majority decision.
Everyone should think of where they know that is a good spot, can cater for a lot of vans, probably has something for the younger attendees to do, like swimming, etc, & put their hands up when the next event, which should be organised around August to October, is proposed.
Dont hog all the fun in the Sunshine Coast.
this is not a comment on the fantastic event we just had, but an attempt to keep things going as they have been.
JBJ I agree. As I said on Saturday night I don't mind organising one event a year and beleive that we need to get closer to you guys for events at Pottsville, Kingscliffe, Murwillumbah Coffs or other area but I think that with Maroochydore being the 2nd Sunshine Coast event that we can make this an annual prilgrimage, especially with our host Greg offering us the bigger Mudjimba Caravan park next year. For those that don't know I met Greg (manager of Seabreeze maroochydore & Mudjimba Caravan Parks) at the Brisbane Caravan and Camping show last year and he was enthusiastic from the start to the end and I'll put my hand up to run that one next year- tentative date 1st weekend of March. But for the rest of the year I'll be in the background and now that I have the Munro I'll get to more of the events, especially one down your way JBJ. I am committing to 3 races for the Sunbeam this year Brisbane Hill Climb end May , Leyburn Sprints in August (not a bad one for the group either) and Noosa Hill Climb in November which means the Kiwi Pixie van will be well used this year. I may be able to run an event but my photo loading skills are not that good so Dossie will get a disk in the mail on Wednesday. I tried to take a photo of every van. Rod G.
That's incredible!!!!!....that mini Olympic looks like my 21 footer chopped in half and it still has the HUGE roof hatch.
Fibreglass fantasia!....a Sunliner, a Carlight Continental plus one for spares (fibreglass roof & ends)... 52 homemade plywood and a Fibreglass Kennedy lookalike awaiting a brand/name (might be Skyline?) ................. EH Premier S/Wagon & '56 FORD Country Sedan for my towcars
That EK wagon is sweeeeeet A teardrop behind a Blitz And, as I'm from Mirboo North I am hoping that Terry Irwin takes David Tree to live at her zoo happily ever after so that we down here can live happily ever after ;D ;D Yellowuki ;D
More photos of the Olympics and Sunliners will follow
I just got the early edition of Saturdays courier mail and they have done a good article. Look in Cars Guide under caravan Section.
Good photos of Greg and Wendy's Ford Pickup and Baravan Schultzy now knows why I stopped him on the way out Early's tidy interior was inviting and the Munro surfaces again. These are just through a few photos I put out and others are set to follow in the next few months. Rod G.
