This post is for a holiday on the long weekend of January 2013. (Australia Day) How about joining in for a Turtle Watch Experience. Bargara Beach Caravan Park near Bundaberg. 0741592228 We have booked 4 nights from Wednesday 23rd to leave on Sunday. We have transferred our deposits from the Jan 2012 flood event. Mention to be with the Vintage Vanners group for a reduction in minimum night stay (from 7 to i think min 4). Cheers. Phil & Louise

Hi Phil & Louise
Thanks for getting this thread going again!!! I've been meaning to get it started again but it seemed so Faaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr off that I've sort of been forgetting about it!
I trawled through old emails & the final say from JODY at Bargara was that they agreed to a 3 night minimum for nights of Friday 25/1/13, Saturday 26/1/13, Sunday 27/1/13. If they try to say you have to make a 4 day booking, tell them JODY SAYS NO, we can come for 3 days! So I've tentatively re-booked all of us 2012 flooded-in Bagarans for those 3 nights & told them that if any of the people who have credits want longer or a different date, then they can contact Bargara direct. Bargara will allow pets, even tho it's just at the end of school hols but you need to ask for the pet friendly area when you book.
We have booked in for nights of Thurs 24/1, Frid 25/1, Sat 26/1, Sun 27/1, Mon 28/1 to give plenty of time to do the turtles & have a day trip to the reef. Might even change booking to a bit longer...it's a great place.
Thanks again for getting this going...hope we can entice a few more of the SEQ gang to this event!
cheers

Just thought I'd add some stuff from the flooded 2012 run for other folk! www.bargarabeach.com.au/welcome.aspI've told BB C/P that other Vintage van people may come too, so when you book, mention Vin Vans & pet friendly sites. The whole of the 16 pet friendly, powered grass sites are available at moment. We checked out this caravan park earlier in the year & it's really great. Lovely flat grassy areas, nice trees, just opposite the beach, snorkeling out the front, & it's only a 2.5 km walk along the beach to Mon Repos to see the turtle rookery. Last week in january is the best time to see turtles, as you get the last of the adults laying eggs & the first of the hatchlings racing off to the water. There's also a great day trip out to Lady Musgrave Island to see the reef, but of course that ain't cheap. smiles

Hi all
Just a reminder for those of us who already had our deposit transferred from 2012 to January 2013, you need to pay the full amount you've booked in for on the Australia day long weekend, by the end of October which is really soon!
Anyone else thinking of booking with the Caravan Park, just mention you're with the Vintage Vanners, see the info above!

The "better late than nevers" have just paid in full to keep their $50 deposit from last time. On the way up, we will do a couple of free camps near "Australia Zoo" for the grandkids and then a couple of nights at Rainbow Beach to do the Dolphin Feed at Tin Can Bay on the Tuesday and arrive Bagara on Wednesday (probably travel home Sunday & Monday) We are site 5 with other vintage vanners from sites 1 to 4. (in the pet friendly area) There is more room left Anyone else Cheers. Phil & Louise.

Hi All,
We were already booked in for 3 nights but have just changed that and have now fully paid.
So we are booked in for the nights of Thurs 24/1, Frid 25/1, Sat 26/1 & Sun 27/1, going home on Mon 28/1.
We will see closer to the time work wise - whether we can stay for any longer.
Fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us this time.

Hi Cluelesssharon, I had the same response, they were firm on the minimum 4 nights, even though I stated the 'Jodie' mentioned statement, the lady refused, saying its still school holiday policy, school hols end the very next day (monday) but we were still keen, so have had to add extra night, so we can still go...
not complaining about the forced extra night as Im off work then, but it may pose a problem for those who work during the school holidays. Nicole.

Hi all
thanks Sharon for letting us know about this communication problem. I'm forwarding on the email to the caravan park that stated we only have to book for 3 nights. So if you only want 3 nights, don't book until I get it sorted with the C/Park. OK?

Hi all
Emailed & phoned Bargara management yesterday. Seems when we booked last year the Aust Day holiday was just outside school hols so that's why dogs were allowed & no minimum booking. When we got the extension on our rained-out booking, I contacted Jodie she said yes 3 days min booking is fine.
But now with our new booking they've decided to take into account that the 2013 Aust Day weekend falls inside school hols & try & apply those holiday rules. Anyway, long & short of talks with management is:
4 days minimum booking is the rule for us vintage vanners Small dogs on leads are allowed, as long as we are in the "pet friendly area"
Jodie has confirmed by email. Sorry Sharon, did my best but couldn't get them to do 3 day min.

Hi Sharon, What a shame. If only you had tried to book before the end of October. I changed my original 3 night booking (my choice) to a 4 night on the 31st October. If I had know you could have had that booking and I would have made a new 4 night booking for me. Luv Di x

Hi Annie & Johnny glad to hear you're coming to Bargara! Nice to meet you at Canungra after hearing your names mentioned many times, mostly whenever we go to Mr Victorian Living in Bris.
Hi to the rest of you Bargaran travellers! Can everyone who's going to Bargara PM me your site nos so I can work out the next area for us after the pet friendly area is full, so we try & stay together in the Park at least in clusters? There's heaps of space adjacent to the PFA (pet friendly area) that is lovely & grassy, no slabs, but no power. Being the friendly bunch we are, that would not be a problem with engel/Waco type fridges as we can run them in other powered annexes nearby but it would mean no lights. I don't get the feeling Jodie would be frilled at us piggybacking somehow!!!!
So I hear on the grapevine Some People on the Other Forum are coming too. I haven't got around to joining the other forum as yet ( 2 jobs, study & farm) but will do so soon just to keep these people in the loop. We are all part of the same vintage van family after all, just some of us are on different forums & of course some people enjoy staring into a fire with a v/van & velvety black sky behind them & some people like to have a dance party once in a while or maybe both!
As JBJ likes to say "Its all good!" smiles

I thought it was pretty quiet on Classic Caravan forum myself!
Rodnet, it sounds like you need to dig your toes in the sand & relax... so Bargara will be just the thing!

Hi all
quick phone call to the C/park yesterday confirmed that 10 vans (all VV members) are booked & paid for.
So that leaves 3 powered sites available in the PFA (pet area), sites 14, 15 & 16 before anyone else has to think about unpowered or other areas.
I am not going to put up a list of attendees, why encourage the burglars?
Friday seems like a good night to book the Turtle Tour so I will get details up soon of this tour. Hey Phil, you still got that info?

Hi all Friday night 25 January 2013 looks as tho it will be the best night for turtle watching tour (that night seems to suit everyone that’s contacted me) so make your own booking by phoning 1300 722 099 & mention Itinerary 3100396 so they will put us all together as the Vintage Vanners group. For general info about the Bundaberg area & what to do, go to this website www.bookbundabergregion.com.au/For anyone thinking of going for a day cruise to Lady Musgrave Island, www.ladymusgraveisland.com/it seems you can only go from 1770 now, which is 77kms from Bargara. For an extra $20/person/to/from the bus will pick you up at Bargara & get you to 1770 & back to Bargara. www.spiritof1770.com.au/island-cruises.htmwww.1770reefcruises.com/Pricing.aspxDon’t know if these are the same operator as they have same phone number but different prices & no pick up bus mentioned! www.lmcruises.com.au/Different websites to catch the "google cruisers"? Les us all know if you have any ideas for activities. We'll be bringing our snorkelling gear as it seems there should be good snorkelling just a short distance from C/Park! Good description of snorkelling from the beaches around Bargara www.nigelmarshphotography.com/articles/bargaradl.htmLocal snorkelling tours at www.sea-australia.com/scubacourses/snorkeltours.htmlsmiles

We are booked for the Turtle Watch.
I should have read Smiles instructions "Mention Itinerary 3100396" and then followed them but I eventually got there.
Cheers.
