Hi davenq, the Sydney newpaper archives don't throw up much about the Traveleze brand at all. Nothing showing in the period 1955 to 1969. In 1975, there are a few advertisements for Traveleze 'motor homes' of 19ft and 21ft length (fitted onto a truck chassis behind the cab), and a 15ft x 8ft 4-berth van, all 2nd hand. Nothing showing for Salem either (other than the Salem cigarette brand from the 1960s ) Certainly the Traveleze brand didn't attack the Sydney market, which leads me to think they must belong to another state, or at least a location well away from Sydney. Your van being from around the mid-1960s and the motor homes I mentioned above being from the mid-1970s suggest the brand was around for a fair while (assuming it was the same manufacturer all the way through). There is another brand in our History section that carries an eagle representation in its logo, and that is the Sandrover ( link ), which was from Mordialloc in Vic. However, the shape of the Sandrover is not the same as the shape of your van. I just wonder whether the eagles were a coincidence between the two brands, or whether there was some connection between them. Your van is the first Traveleze I'm aware of on the forum, so unfortunately we'll have to wait until further information is gathered in the future, to know the right story. cheers, Al.

Thanks Franklin1, so far I have found a serial no. on the drawbar E 218 (maybe no. 218 for 1965?). it is Aluminium over timber frame screwed and in some places nailed, it has a Ravia caragas stove model no. LP2 will post up pics of inside when my camera plays the game.. I spoke to the bloke I got it off ,,,he's going to speak to the bloke he got it off etc. to see if I can get some history. It may have come from Mareeba in North Queensland at some stage. The little van is very straight and tows great at 90-100ks I never thought I'd get into this sort of thing , but it is interesting , and people have already started giving me some "old stuff" you might want for the van...(all this in three days)

Hi davenq, do you think the word under Traveleze could be S..a..l..o..o..n ?? A number of cars in the old days were given the 'Saloon' tag, so maybe your van was considered to be a bit above the ordinary, and worthy of the same tag. It looks to me like there are six letters to the left of the eagle.
cheers, Al.

Well, hurt the rear end of the Val at Easter , so spring upgrade required. wire brushed , rust converted ,and undercoated drawbar all the led lights and window rubbers. started painting the flashes to match the Val. Interior is coming up o.k. (may be able to keep original flooring.. three "inspection" holes to get to the wiring.. pulled the mattresses and aired them out ,they appear to be in good nick. scored a mesh windscreen protector on the weekend , 5 bucks at a garage sale, scored towing mirrors out of the paper today . just have to knock up brackets to fit them both together......

G,day Dave, Shaun here from the QCA, had a quick chat at Mopar Sunday about our common link...... Looking good. I havew finally posted mine up ( Rydeasy rebuild) and she is nearly good to go. Only shame is I live in Stanthorpe and it costs me $150.00 to run the car to brissie without a trailer , so the Val will be for short trips and it will have to go behind the Falcon for ong ones. Although I did find a tidy VE ute with a 265 the other day
Cheers Shaun

Hi davenq Tidy little van you have there, looks the right thing behind that very nice Val. Do you find it distracting to look through the windscreen protector? I have found that painting stuff you have to look through, matt black, so much easier on the eyes, like black flywire, you hardly know it's there just a thought ;D Surf Tragic

got the sticker re-done , not quite as original... and we did a club run with a stay over... the teardrop is one of those "newer" made up ones... was still a great weekend Although towing the van home at 100ks ,,..in 35 degree heat made the Val a 'bit" uncomfortable....
