The Airstream looks fantastic Will and Lyn. It will turn heads wherever you go I am sure. Congratulations. I look forward to seeing it in the metal one of these days. Perhaps you should consider an Australian tour...
I love the sunset picture and tried to work out how you did it. I'm guessing that you were under a light on a sporting field or somesuch?
Now, about your traveling companion - the one with the toothy grin. Does he or her eat much, and how do you excercise him or her while on tour?

dunno how this post got into "runs & events" ...but ..whatever Will & Lyn .......... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I don't like it It l i t e r a l l y takes the shine off every other vintage caravan in the caravan park. Your 200 hours of blood sweat & polishing has produced amazing results , ....and an amazing shine , so much so ...... that admirers in the van parks are simply unable to see past the mega shiny silver caravan (they can certainly see themselves in it ;D) This past weekend at Coogee caravan park, us other vintage vanners didn't get a look in , poor ol' Harri the Harris Van looked like trailer park trash parked next to the Silverstream, the coupla Baravans and the Quest didn't fair much better .....the crowds gathered 'round the Silverstreak ..... and the show was stolen .....totally ;D ;D Australia's Touring Heritage will never be the same ;D ;D Congrats on a fine job ......you two will never be lonely in the caravan park Mark

:)Thanks guys for the kind words here are a couple more photos then its on with the chev thanks to the members who have responded here are some important facts that can be verified Airstream tow better than any box type caravan see "you tube "under airstream australia "airstream performance" reduction in fuel due to aerodynamics even though it is 1.8 tonnes once driving the drag is just not there it is a pleasure to tow the inside is completely lined with aluminium underneath the van is aluminium sheeted and sealed from road debris three inches of fibreglass bat insulation suspension is perfectly placed and in my van was thirty years ahead of its time with similiar performance to airstreams latest addition again thanks to the people who responded to this post this is my fifth caravan that I have modified or done up to suit my requirements this is not about ego its about Vintage caravanning and if you asked me which caravan has given me the most enjoyment and attention when towing it was ELVIS my 1960 ten ft bondwood I saved from the tip Lyn and I love vintage vans and we are looking for another one to start after we finish the 67 split window kombi along the lines of Elvis maybe 12 ft Will and Lyn

Yeah , Yeah .... go on Brag , Brag......... ;D Just make sure she is at Wagga Wagga in October this year for the start of the East Coast spring Tour and then on to Coledale. Thats an order. Thats our boy "deputee tumbleweed"....... no sooner finshed one project ... thinking about the next. ;D Nice to hear ya still hold "Bondwoods" in high regard Will and Lynn... Us "peasants" residing in "the sticks"( aka timber vans) are humbled to think that even though you have reached the epidemy of vintage caravaning ( well in my eyes anyway).... you havent got...big headed .. and lost the common ozzie battlers 10 to 12 foot Bondys touch..... ;D Just thinkin about what Mark T said about travelling around with you guys and the crowd being drawn to "Laurin" no matter where she goes...... Thats gunna make it easier for us other vanners to set up when we arrive at parks etc. We will be on our 6th stubby while you are still "conducting guided tours" in and around Laurin. ...... aaarr well mate... This is what happens when ya travelling with a star...... or is that a 5 star glamour. ;D Great job mate... and truely a magnificent part of Australias Touring Heritage / Touring past God bless "The Septics" for manufacturing Airstreams ;D ;D Reddo

Will
Your airstream is amazing. I was so pleased to find your post and then to find out you were in Perth - I've been looking out for Lauren on the road ever since! I am a lecturer in architecture at UWA and am about to run a design project with some students for a caravan park. I'd really like them to be able to experience such a great piece of design as the airstream. I'm wondering if you are at all interested in letting them look at her / do some measured drawings to get their heads around one of the best caravans to get them inspired for a great caravan park design?

Hi , I have an 27 ft Airstream on the Gold Coast of my own that I am forbidden to sell, I also imported and sold an Avion to Jimmy Barnes, its very similar to an Airstream , it was white but we polished it and restored it as you can see in the following photo albums . I have another 1966 Airstream 28 ft on its way that we can either sell as it is in original condition , or fully restore it as with the Avion . I have been an Auto Dealer in Los Angeles for 30 years ,many of those years building Conversion Vans and Custom Cars that mainly went to Japan , we also ship many cars , trucks , caravans and boats people have bought in the USA back to most Ports in Australia for them . For Full Information on Importing go to my Website : www.wholesaledealercentre.comHere are Photos of the Avion trailer in the Condition it was Sold to Jimmy picasaweb.google.com/mirageaeromotive/AvionBefore#Here are photos of it finished , Ready to go to Sydney overnight on a Truck , Xmas Eve 2008 . . picasaweb.google.com/mirageaeromotive/AvionFinished#picasaweb.google.com/mirageaeromotive/AvionInterior#Thank You . Hi mike nice to see a like minded Airstream lover Lyn and I have had the go ahead from Airstream USA and Airstream australia to host an Australian Airstream site for all Airstreams new and vintage which can be linked to Vintagecaravans.com for run sharing with the vintage Airstreams Its great to know that Jimmy Barnes and yourself have Vintage Airstreams funny enough Lyn and I saw his son last night David Campbell in concert I would class David as one of Australias best Acts at present full of talent and totally dynamic I am sure Barnsey is a proud dad then when your dad is barnsey who has been on top in Aussie music over 30 years it is not surprising regards and will stay in touch Will stream

Hi Will, in the 1970 Sydney Caravan Show there was a 30ft Airstream on display. A newspaper article at the time said: "America is often regarded as being the leader in car and caravan design. But after seeing the "Rolls Royce" of American vans, the 30ft Airstream International Land Yacht, you will wonder whether we are behind - or ahead - in styling. The van is odd-shaped by our standards, but would be ideal for towing. Its aerodynamic shape resembles an aeroplane, rather than a caravan. The van, costing $19000 new, was imported by an American engineer. It was involved in an accident and subsequently sold to a Sydney dealer. Despite its length, it is only a two-berth van, with two single beds. But the interior is something that has to be seen to be believed. It is fitted with air-conditioning, a furnace oil heater, a four-burner stove, a full-size oven, a 6 cu.ft refrigerator, a lounge area, a dining area, and a good-size kitchen with plenty of cupboard space. The galley unit has a twin bowl sink. There's a bath and shower with hot and cold water, and a toilet in the back of the van, and a movie-star make-up mirror. Even though it offers luxurious comfort, when compared with our 30ft self-contained vans at $6000, it's a bit on the pricey side."Here is a photo of the Airstream... Wonder whatever happened to this van?? cheers, Al. [Story ref: SH1970 05 24 76]

Hi VVers Down at the local newsagent today, and on the counter were a few copies of March4 -- march 31 -2009 Unique Cars for $2 with a dvd, so I says to myself this seems fair value. I get home take it out of the package and what do I find on page 80 and for the next 5 pages, -- you guessed it 'the silver bullet'. Nice work, it says words by Keith Hall - I guess that our Keith, and pics by Paul Kane. Cheers boblor
