Also keep in mind that many of the toaster style Caraparks don't fit on 6'6" wide car trailers - the wheel spacing is closer to 7 foot. Some wheel distance measuring would be wise - yes I have learnt the hard way :-) Steve Yup.. been in the same prediciment myself Steve. I find the new U-Haul trailers are good. They have no sides on them... just a 200mm C section side rail . This means that the body of the van dont get "Hung Up"on the sides of the trailer like they would on a normal car trailer. Tis Thursday 3rd January..... So what ya may say...... Whats so special about 3/1/2013 My calander says its officially .. "Kempsey Carapark Parts Donor Van Drag Home Day"..... ;D Coooooooool.... wouldnt miss that for quids.... Me n me eldest son Luke and Joels Nissan Patrol are loaded up with all the recovery gear and are heading off around 6.00am for kempsey... 4 hours up... 5 hours back to Newy... providing we dnt get tangled up in the highway holiday traffic... Gunna be fun getting this sucker out of the scrub.... dry creek bed crossings..tight twisty bush tracks.....just the sort of place ya dont wanna take a carfloat behind a 4x4. Have packed chainsaw to remove trees on tight bends and low overhanging branches.... Luke can sit on the roof of the van and lop the branches as we make our way back out ... Might asses the condition of the drawbar on the van. if we can lug it out behind the 4x4 onto the main road and load it on the trailer out there life will be a lot easier... Will try and get some happy snaps of the extraction for you.... Stay tuned. Reddo the Rekker

Yo..... Had a good run up to Kempsey.. just on 3 1/2 hours.. Turns out the poor buggers have had a sec ond bush fire through their property since i was last there in early November.... This made for an easy trip in to collect the van... However... The Caravan Park Van had flat tyres on the 16 inch ford rims . We pumped them up and went flat out trying to get the van up onto the trailer. The axle width was a very neat fit on the trailer. With one tyre deflating faster than the other it kept wanting to skew sideways off the ramps... Other issue with flat tyres is you have reduced clearance between van and trailer while loading. Things like the van step get hung up on the rear lip of the trailer... bit of lifting with a High lift wallaby jack helped out there. All loaded and heading home by 12 noon. Got home around 4. No probs unloading it out the front..... In closing.. The van will sit out the front until next saturday. Given the interest shown in this van previuosly... I have granted it a 7 day stay of exercution.... If anyone wishes to buy the van ( see photos earlier on in the thread for inside pixs etc) then please pm me and commit to buying it before next saturday.... otherwise it will be getting the good bits picked off it and the rest willbe heading to the scrappys. I would like $950 to cover purchase and retrieval costs. Tyres appear to be staying up now and i have fitted a wheel to the bottom of the jockey wheel adjuster... so easy loading on to your carfloat... make sure it is a wide one with no high sides on it IT CANNOT BE TOWED IN ITS PRESENT CONDITION!!!! IT WILL NEED A NEW DRAWBAR AND A LOT OF LOVE AND CARE .. PLUS MONEY TO GET THIS VAN BACK ANYWHERE NEAR ROADWORTHY. The photos make it appear tidier than it looks . Cheers Reddo

;D ;D ;D ;D I am just itching to get my hands on the 2 portholes... and there is 2 roof hatches with round clear perspex in them... look like port holes but arent. Lotsa quirk bits... Aluminium pedestal wash basin with long veretical cupboard and alloy door under the sink /bowl is different. 2 nice "beehive"light glasses. Still havent worked out how they got water above your head in the shower recess. ?? Half size Electrolux Kerosine fridge.... whats the go there...??/ an electric fridge Co selling fuel fridges?? A curved / lazy "s"shaped towel rail... that isnt a towel rail.. the mounting marks on the wall adjacent to the entry indicate it was a hand rail ?... 1/4"round bar... wouldnt hold a drunk as they tried to haul emselves up into the van after a night out.?? Perspex windows... all of em cracked in alloy frames. wrap arounds at the front. Big fat alloy badge on the back. The whole thing adds up to a van way flasher than the average workmans van that the DMR used back in the 50s and 60s. Hence the stay of exercution.......however.... its on death row.. and there will be no appeals for leaniancy come next saturday morning..... Regards Reddo

Reddo, the water for the shower was in a tank which was slipped into brackets over head. I assume if you wanted it hot you filled it with hot water. Attached photo shows part of the tank and the gravity feed shower hose. As far as I know the van for sale at Mossman is still available and was offered to me at considerable discount under Ebay starting price a few weeks ago. Bruce

Such a cool van, finger crossed some brave soul takes it on. It still looks quite sturdy, structurally speaking... and it has a CHIMNEY!!

Hi Dusty.... It has 2 chimneys.... 1 for the fridge ( flue) and 1 for the stove... unfortunately there has been a bit of a fire in the stove area and t has burnt the cabnitery either side of where the stove use to sit. Even though the van is aluminium clad on the outside it is ply lined on the inside.. so a disaster was averted by who ever put the fire on the stove out. There is a hatch in the floor behind the fridge... accessed from under the van. Not sure if its to provide updraft ventilation for the heat from the kero burning ... or it may be to access the ignition point for the kero flame... I havent had much of a chance to have a good look in and around the van.. Have been working on removing and cleaning up the motor /gearbox of my EH Holden panelvan. I did notice a gas pipe hanging under the van when i was driving off today... i suspect it might have been an upgrade for the stove??? Regards Reddo

Ladies and gentlemen..... It is with a heavy heart that i inform you that " sibel D Caravan Park " passed away this morning..... For a week she fought on with a weakening pulse......Bits started dropping off and the medicos at Royal Prince Redman Hospital swung into action with Oxy acet....... ummmmmmmm... the Oxy-viva unit.... A 12 Volt battery was inserted in the 5 pin plug and a jolt was delivered to her electrical system...... Unfortunately this only compounded the ailments and a small electrical fire broke out under her front seating arrangement... I dashed to get her a drink of water from the garden hose but she finally secumbered to the fever and slipped into a coupling..... ummmm... a coma.... then she "flat lined".... Doctors cerificate show cause of death... " Lack of support from vint van relatives ... Broken Heart.. old age.. chassis rust.. internal fire .... rat infestation...Time of death ..not quite sure.. appears to have been on the way out for the passed 30 years.. .".... Bloody hell .... .. I knew she was crook... but rat infestation in ya spongey bits is a bugga of a way to pass on aye.... While i was attending to the funeral arrangements i came across a cerificate in the Kero fridge cavity.... Seems old Cybill had signed a decree that states ... I ..Cybell D Caravan Park ... being of rusty body and decrepid chassis do hereby beqeath my carcass to Reddo to do with me as he wishes.... ;D. I have ticked "Yes" in the organ donor section of my rego papers.... Sooooo... not one to cause a cuffuffle amongst Cybills relos i have set about surgicaly removing Old Cybs jubbly bits... .. using angel grinder.. pronounced "Ängle grinder"...Cold Chisel....pronounced "scalpel".. Lump Hammer...pronounced... ".. Lump Hammer. ;D To help cover burial costs i am offering some organs to those that may wish to attempt a transplant into their ailing van.. On ice in eskys....... amonst my beer learnt that trick at medical school after carving bits off mysef while restoring vans and taking them along to the doctor to have em sewn back on.... i have .. A red laminex table with aluminium edging... the ply is laminating but the laminex could easily be removed and used as a template for a new base. swing down leg... ( old cybill was a dancer and her legs still swing nicely ) A Galley sink pump.. which will need a kit through it but otherwise a good spit and polish will see it pushing water through your vans bladder like it did for old Cyb. A small staino sink..... found in her bowels poor woman. 2 very nice tits.... ummmm.... LIGHTS.. sorta shaped like stepped bee hives . One is white other is sorta off white. Both have D sized cups to support them..... ;D A brass sign about 200mm X 50 mm with "Built By Caravan Park PTY LTD " in risen up letters.... There is a half sized Electrolux kero fridge ( Cybell had a cold side to her) about 1 metre high by 500 X 500. Weighs about 15 KG or so. door rubbers are very ulcerated .. which would have given the old girl some degree of incontenence However she once told me .. she would much rather a full bottle in front of me .. than a full frontal labotomy .. so... this basically means that the fridge.. being larger than the door opening ...remains in her gizzards.... ... Only way out is to perform a sort of open heart surgery on the cavity in the wall behind it and take it out through the back passage ..YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUKKKKKKK. Anywho... I seen other goodies on the cat scan in there like lotsa window latches, door handles, aluminium pedistal wash basin.. and...... seems Old Cyb had a taste for motor bike helmets. There was 6 in there ...old puddin bowls, 60s stadium helmets and old style hard hats under the fold down bed down the back... Obviuosly had trouble "passing "these... ... All sorts of leaking medicine bottles and old cooking powders etc in the cupboards. She musta been a Tea totaller.. no grog stashed in any part of her anatomy. i have just removed my surgical gloves and taken off my mask and apron....after the autopsy. Have a look back through the pix near the start of this thread and see the bits i am talking about... these X rays where taken before she was transported to "The Pearly Gates" Let me know if you desire a bit of Old Cibyll.... I am holding her to Portholes very close to my heart,,, Reddo.. The "Transplant Specialist".. sounds a whole lot more respectfull than "The wrecker"

Hi Steve Which side lights are you refering to?? There is one clearance light still on the van in rough condition. Other one fell off when we where loading the van. Not sure if we threw it inthe van or not?? The outside wall light is there without a glass... these can be bought at a lighting specialist brand new ... so not worth pulling off the wall.
Cheers Reddo

Reddo, I was talking about the front clearance lights but not to worry if they too far gone :-) I have doubles on the rear of my 12/9 but hoped to get a pair for the front (at the request of the local rego office). I have made a mould for replacement lenses for those lights and do a respectable colour matched polyester replacement should you need any.
Thanks anyway Steve

Oh dear, poor old Sibel. But your medical post did make me laugh, very clever ;D I was going to request the clearance lights too! Never mind. Are there any cupboard/door hinges available? I would also be interested in drawer & cupboard handles Dusty

I have seen hidden in the trees a few vans and one looks similar in shape as your pic's....on our way to the Yarra Valley (I think out Yelingbo/Macclesfield way? Victoria that is) ....unfortunately, it was only a passing glimpse/flash as the boy was doing 100 mile an hour!!! Yes, on the Augusta....I did belt him on the helmet...but he thinks I am swatting bugs! Next time we go to Warburton etc...I will get him to actually stop and stalk the place....they are hidden amongst gums & pine trees and probably some old guy with a loaded shotgun cause the property is filled with old cars/caravans etc.....but I am SURE it's the above shape! Hi All I have just listed this van on Ebay... It starts 7.oopm Tuesday night ( 21/1/2013 ) . $100 with no reserve. Missus nagged me to get it off the street.. so i put it down the back yard......... then she nagged me about it being down the back yard.. so.. i moved it to ebay. Still lots of goodies in there. Kero fridge ( just couldnt bring myself to hack a hole in the side to remove it) Sink, wash basin, door handles, hinges etc As you know some of the bits have been removed and have gone to good homes to help with restos. I will use the portholes in my TD van. If the nagging had ceased i would have spent more time removing odds and ends for use in other vans ... but .. to bring peace and harmony to the household it has to go..... Maybe if it had been a timber van she might have been a bit more leanient with me.... ... she is use to them coming home Heck.. i even offered to sling it up into the peppercorn tree and make a tree house for our grandaughter....Even that failed to silence her. Regards Reddo

Carapark Superb Deluxe circa early to mid fifties they reckon, have visited one a bit larger, they have the larger wrap round front viewing windows, shower and all gas lighting, top of the range. Cheers Stephen&Julie Hello All, My wife was surfing the Gumtree caravan pages and came across this tired looking green and cream aluminium box on wheels and fell in love instantly. Made the call as soon as it was a reasonable hour and then organised for a road trip that Australia Day weekend from Beenleigh to Newcastle to check it out. Bought it there and then and could not organise a mate and his tilt tray quick enough. So far unfortunately we have not really started on the refurb as we are renovating the house without wheels first. Since acquiring the van we have also bought a tow vehicle, Lo and behold another project. At present van is stored in our shed out of the weather and awaiting the day it gets attention. We will update when we start. Steve we did meet you at the Cooly Rocks on in 2015 at the street market where you informed us that this toaster had been in your possession for short stay. Hope to catch you there again in 2017. Cam and Ang.
