G'day Lisa,
Strewth it gets messy...... there was a Mr Jim King in SA who built "Kings" Caravans.... that we/ I thought looked a bit like "Convair" caravans
But we can now see by reading "Still Swinging the Billy" Convair vans were built by a Mr George Vilaris.
Now you find a "Kingsway" caravan built by Mr Reg King in Victoria that looks (to me) to be similar to the Kings caravan built by Mr Jim King in South Australia .
I think I'll leave it to Mr Don Ricardo to sort it all out
Found something about "Still Swinging the Billy" that I would have liked to have seen included............an Index

Lilsa, I'd like to do a story for Carsguide on Kingsway caravans. Do you own one or can you put me on to someone who does? Contact: mark.hinchliffe@carsguide.com.au

Hi Cobber and Lisa,
Interesting to read about the Kingsway vans. Yet another puzzle to try and untangle. (Actually, being a glass half full person )
I think that from what Lisa has told us Kingsway is quite separate from Kings Caravans in SA, and from the info in Still Swinging the Billy that Kings Caravans is quite separate from Convair.
Just to add to the puzzle, there's another King caravan mentioned on the forum here. When the info was posted regarding this particular King van, there was a suggestion that it was made in Tasmania, but reviewing the info we have, I think the Tassie link is circumstantial at best. Interestingly enough the King van looks quite a lot like some Harris vans, which were built in SA. We don't know where Surfncam - who posted the pics - found the van, but if it was in SA then it may be one of Jim King's.
A bit off the topic, Lisa, but I would be pretty certain that Kingsway had nothing to do with Kings vans in SA. Where did you get your info on Kingsway from? Was it a family member or friend? If so, what they have told you is probably pretty correct.
