This information regarding the “Beaumaris Caravan” is taken from the 1948 edition of “The Caravan & Touring in Australia” magazine published by Motor Manual. If you have any further information on this brand please add it to this posting. Cobber.

Having grown up in the seaside suburb of Beaumaris (some considerable time after these caravans were built), I am now wondering if the likes of Kaybees lantern roof (since sold) were possibly made here? There are so few examples of lantern roofed vans in Aus & I guess most of them ended up as firewood.

Struth Lindsey, What led you to compare these two threads from the good old days ? There certainly is a similarity between kaybee's lantern roof van and the Beaumaris van now that you point it out, it would be interesting to read the diary that came with Kaybee's van to see where it was built although I do get the impression it was a one-off I wonder who bought it ? It's complicated & you really don't want to know how my brain works. But I recently joined a Beaumaris past & present group & shared the Beaumaris caravan to there. Have had some wonderful responses with very old photos of peoples caravans . I was also able to inform one woman that her current caravan is a Country Club I will seek permission to share some of the old photos, they really are special.

My sharing of the Beaumaris Caravan Company to a Facebook page, stirred up some memories for some. This from a gentleman named Tom Russell; In the early ‘50s our family (mum, dad, my 2 sisters & I) lived in a caravan in the Point Ave caravan park until we moved into our newly built house in Comas Rd. Here’s a photo of me with a caravan in the background 😁. A photo of our caravan in the Point Ave caravan park in the ‘50s. And this one from a lady named Joy. This was a caravan dad borrowed from the Perry’s the photo is taken outside our home in Scarborough grove many happy holidays in that van very low to the ground 1950s I will move these photos to a more appropriate thread once I work out which one is best suited.
