Hi Sheppo and Cobber,

Golfview hasn't confirmed Sheppo's suggestion yet - maybe there's another carbon copy rail bridge out there... ::) ::) ::)

Wouldn't that rot your socks though? I passed by that bridge only a couple of weeks ago. :( :( :( Obviously didn't take enough notice! ;D ;D ;D

I'm thinking that Olfarts and Cobber had worked out where the bridge was, but Sheppo was the first to name it (providing Golfview agrees), so it's his turn. At least you've all put me out of my misery, and I can do something more productive with my time than examining maps. ;D ;D ;D

Go for it Sheppo.

Wow, we have a result at last and to be honest i'm glad it took a little more than 24hrs for it to be solved, unlike my last outing.
The Answer it Hamley Bridge SA, the town next to mine. they have two bridges. This bridge in particular had both the Adelaide to Terrowie & Peterbough line AND the Adelaide to hamley Bridge, OWEN & Balaklava line. In my 22 years at Owen i have only known it to run grain trains to balaklava at harvest time, but that all ended 4-5 years ago. large road movements are the prefered transport now.
If you google sa railway bridges, it will bring up the hamley bridge web page with the following picture - almost a dead ringer for mine.
I reckon Sheppo is the winner as he actually correctly named HAMLEY BRIDGE first, unless others think otherwise??

Hi Golfview,

I hadn't worked out that you were in that area at that point. Maybe next time? (Won't be for a while though.)

And now on to the next challenge. Bit hard when Olfarts, Sheppo and a few others seem to have been everywhere I've ever been, plus a few, and Golfview can phone a friend (well talk to her husband and ring her dad anyway)! ;D ;D ;D

Where's this?

Dave - this is a different photo to the one you were probably expecting, so no need to disqualify yourself. :) :) :)

(Should have used a pic of Dave's front yard - then he really would have had to exclude himself! ;D ;D ;D)

Go for it everyone!

Hi Golfview,

Glad to hear you enjoyed your weekend in Port Lincoln. It's a great place.

But no, the building in the photo is not in Port Lincoln. :) :) :)

Hi Golfview,

You've got it this time! Well done. :D :D :D

The building is the Rotunda Art Gallery located on the foreshore at Tumby Bay, South Australia. It began life as an open rotunda, and I think at one stage (after the walls were added) became the local band rehearsal room. In 2001 it was painted with a mural by local artists. The mural shows various aspects of life in Tumby Bay over time with a focus on children playing on the beach. Here's the full sequence - that's Dona Ricardo admiring the mural in the first pic:

Sorry for the delay- sick children have kept me snowed under.

Righto this one is hot off the press today and felt it is worth it, considering the significance of today.

The only clue i will give is that its part of a War Memorial.

The Ode

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning
We will remember them.

LEST WE FORGET........

Hi Golfview,

I'll take a punt on Two Wells... ??? ??? ???

Did you know that a Leopard tank has a 950 litre fuel tank? Gives it a range of 600 kms! :o :o :o

Funnily enough we saw another tank sitting in a park on our recent trip around South Australia, but we didn't go through Two Wells. I don't know whether it was a Leopard, but it gave me a start when we turned a corner to find a tank with its cannon pointed at us! Can't remember where we saw it, but I commented on it to Dona Ricardo. I guess it may very well have been one of the six Crown115 referred to.

Sorry, there were 5 not 6. Echunga, McLaren Vale, Mt Gambier, Salisbury and Port Augusta all got 1. They cost $11K each and $22K to transport!

Hi all, again Don has got this one nailed..... FYI google 'The lepoard has landed' and it will bring up the Plains Producer article relating to the tank. What a shock to see a barrel of the tank Don, give the old heart a bit of a start......?
Over to you Don

Hi Golfview,

I thought I had worked it out - thanks to the info provided by Olfarts and Crown115 which gave me the clues I needed. Thanks fellas. :) :) :) It was the pine trees in the background that was the final clue.

OK, time to leave South Australia for a while. This is a two parter: (a) Where's this, and (b) why is it significant?

Hi Golfview,

Thanks for bumping this thread. :) :) :) Thought I'd just remind everyone what we are trying to identify.

Here's a clue: The building has a connection with the tropics but is located in Victoria... ::) ::) ::)

Hi Dave,

Religious significance? Not that I know of, but I guess it depends on what your religious leanings are. One of the most recent times it was used was for a showing of the Melbourne Cup film. People attending were required to dress appropriately. I guess that could be a religious experience for some. ;D ;D ;D

Hi Don

You've got me stumped - I've hunted through the Victorian Historical Register...can't seem to find it.

Do you have some clues?

Cheers
