 Fun b4 Cowra ......
« Thread Started on Apr 1, 2012, 7:13pm »

Hi all, been having a heap of fun getting organised for Cowra..... ;) ;) ;)

Have had some time in the shed over the last week organising the Sunny and the you beaut ute to make the trip south.

And the Sun has actually Shone on the Sunshine Coast for the past week.....cannot believe it......gone is the rain (for now anyway)..........ya gotta love this SE Qld weather, rotten one day, even bloody worse the next...........but it's all good, it keeps the water tanks happy.

Put some new rubbers on the door and windows.........

Gave the old girl a bit of a lick and polish....(the Sunny that is..)

Put her back in the shed and Donna (the WO) gave her a good scrub and polish up on the inside.....

Had a cupla beers then.........ended up............

So all in all a top few days, looking forward to the trip down to Cowra and the comradeship of all the good people who love a good time socialising with like minded people.

As ole' mate JBJ says..................it's all fun ;) ;) ;)

;D I'm excited...... ;D

Cheers,

;D Hillbilly and the WO .......... :D

..........well whilst hillbilly is having fun preparing his Sunny, my preparations for Cowra are costing a friggin' fortune, as I prepare the V V retrieval truck for its longest ever V V retrieval journey ::) ........a 6600km return journey :o

........new tyres, new windscreen , new belts, radiator overhaul, new filters, fresh fluids, towbar fitted, voltage reducer and trailer plug, a coupla 44 gallon drums of diesel fuel ................. :o

......the poor ol' V V retrieval truck has not one v v to pick up ...... (the 58 Clipper Tandem from Owen in South Aus), but another as well ! ............a very interesting little caravanette from downtown Blanchtown d e e p in outback South Australia ...........I've literally gotta "GoFar" to collect this one ;D ..........more on that later ::)

Hey Mark...
Somewhere back in history i seem to remember talk about rigid mounted tow couplings on the back of trucks....... ??? ::).... and the very adverse effect it has on the drawbar and caravan.

Might have been Oldfarts that touched on the subject of suspenison / spring mounting the towbar/ball to take away "jarring " effect when the stiff rear end of the truck goes over a bump??

Oldfarts might elaberate further???
Then again i might just have been imagining i read it somewher>

Hate ta see ya destroy a good van on the towhitch while heading home to W.A.

Blanchtown.. everyone that was at Morgan for the 2006 van nats knows about a couple of nice rigs in the vicinity....One is quite exceptional and..... one was a caravanette ;) ;) :-X

Oh dear...

I've got a sinking feeling about that ol pommy van that Mark showed us in that other thread. :( :( :( :'( :'( :'(

On the other hand, I seem to remember that Surf Tragic had a rigid tow ball set up on his trailer to which he attached the vans he retrieved, and that seemed to work really well. A couple of the retrievals were long hauls, eg Adelaide to the south coast of NSW.

Gee sounds like quite alot of you as well as both Hillbilly and Mark T have been busy preparing their vans and vehicles for the big trip to Cowra. The vans are looking good - I will have to remember my sunnies, so the glare of the sun off the side of the vans doesn't blind me. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Hillbilly, looks as though you are already starting to cram in lots of zzzzzzzzzzzzzz now - is that so you can party hard once you get to Cowra?? ;D ;D ;D

Welcome back to mother Earth "Homemade Di".....have you lost ya sea legs yet.....?? Talk about the "Pacific Lady"....strewth.... :o

Yep, she's all go for Cowra 2012......I reckon a lotta people would be putting a lotta effort into their vintage mobile homes over the next few weeks.

I managed to collect a good (re-conditioned) bench seat for the ute from the Gold Coast, which I'm picking up next week and scored some new carpets also, and a new 12v set up for the rear of the ute to keep the "Engel" cold on those long winding NSW roads.

Well I hope you've sorted those grease nipples and bearings on the old 54 for the trek south.......

I think we'll be taking the coastal route then head inland......for something different....... ;)

Cheers,

Hillbilly :D ...............

8-) Fun in the Sun 8-)

Hi all,

Yes Hillbilly, I have well and truly lost my sea legs. In fact I lost them 6 days into the cruise, when I managed to fracture and dislocate my toe :'( :'( It's slowly on the mend, but had sometime in a wheelchair and now on crutches !!

But the good news is that it's my left foot that is effected, so I can still drive :D :D

I'm sure that everyones vans (and cars) will be a credit to them with all the work that is taking place prior to Cowra. I'm just glad that I had already completed some work on the van last year and had the wheel bearings checked, greased and a new set purchased just last month. As I am not really in any condition to be doing anything else to the van before Cowra - in fact the van will be lucky to even get a wash before I hit the road :o :o :o

Regards
Di
