Spent tonight zip tying hoses, wires out of harms way . Triple checked clamps ,leaks and things that shouldn't come loose. Oil, water all good. One new tyre on the front fitted. New plugs fitted.
Then washed the ute and Jelly bean and thought that was a waste of time as they will be covered in bugs and dirt when we get there. Got to look good on the way I spose !!!.
Diannes been packing stuff and sorting last minute essentials.
Can't wait to get out of the rat race !!!

Cheers John and Dianne. Seeya there.

We're a bit disappointed at the moment, but we are hoping the towbar will be here tomorrow.
I have spent all week working on 'the car' and Janorma.
Tomorrow the car goes to the mechanic for a tune up.
I don't believe in rushing things..... ::) ::)
The plan is to leave Thursday with 'the car' or the Toyota.
See you all there.

wow - its definitely 'excitement building' here!

Feel a little miffed that I am driving an xtrail and staying in a cabin 'cause my van is in pieces, but very excited to be doing the nats regardless! - Wait til 2014 - Then there'll be a van and hopefully a suitable tow car to reckon with!!

travel safe everyone

Well folks .. it appears the gremlins are at work already...
Got a phone call from JBJ and Boots this morning...
They left yesterday morning...
Clutch master packed it in and they had to return to Ballina.
Got back underway today....
Pulled up for a break and then discovered the van had a flat tyre...
Got underway again and the headlight fuse shorted out... another patch up ... and underway again....

They rang me from Grafton..... JBJ was about to snarl at 8 $x4s with caravans on that had just parked across in front of him at the servo.....
Boots finished the conversation with me....
I couldnt hear any shouting in the background and it sounded like they where getting underway again....

All this before 10.00am today.... I hope thier luck improves.

Looks like i might have to mount a rescue mission to get my son and his aging 60s series toyota home from Mudgee... Gearbox to transfer case gasket blown and blowing oil back all ovewr his off road camper trailer.
Will hear more from him tonight .. he is limping towards home with it.
Might have to shoot out there and hitch the camper onto the mighty FB panno and take a load of the toyota....

Fun and games before Cowra....
Oh yeah.. Othwer son that was travelling in his 4x4 behind his bro has pressed on to Hill End for the night and Anzac Day .
He rang me at 11.00am today to tell me it is sleeting/snowing at Hill End.

PACK WARM CLOTHES FOR COWRA..... IT ISNT ALL THAT FAR AWAY FROM BATHURST AND HILL END.... :o AND IT WOULDNT SURPRISE ME IF IT GETS COLD.. REAL COLD AT COWRA.
Geez arent ya glad i cancelled the swimwear fashion parade.... :P ;) :D ;D

Happy trails

Temperature dropping here in Hedland.........down to 32 degrees ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D...Autumn definitely with us.....even had a long sleeve shirt and trousers on by choice today ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? (ok, it was to keep those pesky sandflies (aka 'no see-ums) off bare skin)

Hope JBJ and Boots' luck improves......good luck to the rest of you intrepid travellers

Hi Daggsey and Reddo,

You're a funny man, Daggsey! Temperature's dropped to 32 in Port Hedland, eh? It's been raining and hail for the last two days in Melbourne. 8 degrees when I headed off to work today. It's a bit of a shock after the last few weeks of relatively warm weather - relative to Melbourne, not Port Hedland. ;D ;D ;D

Reddo, I checked the forecast for the first few days at Cowra:
  • Sat - Min 4; Max 20 & sunny
  • Sun - Min 6; Max 19 & mostly sunny
  • Mon - Min 4 with frost; Max 22 & sunny
  • Tues - Min 7; Max 23 & mostly sunny

Reckon you might be right about the warm clothes in the mornings, but we might manage shirt sleeves in the middle of some days. :D :D :D It's all good, as someone around here says (not sure he's saying that just at the moment though!)

See you there.

PLEASE READ BEFORE UPLOADING POSTS ABOUT THE VINTAGE CARAVAN NATIONALS EVENT AT COWRA

Hi all,

I've just created a new thread for posts about the 2012 Vintage Caravan Nationals, and transferred the last few posts about those already travelling to Cowra to the new thread. Please add any posts about the Nationals to the new thread HERE.

The reason for this is...

In the past, when an event such as the Nationals has occurred, our usual habit has been to add our posts and photos about the event to the thread created to arrange the event - if you understand what I mean? We all enjoy looking at, and going back later to the posts about the event...but they often come at the end of a very long thread talking about what's happening, who's coming, who's not coming, etc, most of which is irrelevant and pretty uninteresting once the event is underway or has happened.

This thread is an example - the posts about the trips to Cowra will start on page 12 of the thread, and later if we want to look at the posts and photos about the 2012 V V Nationals we will have to wade our way through the guff at the beginning of the thread or try and guess where the interesting stuff (photos, anecdotes, stories, etc) begins.

So the solution is...

To start a new thread just for posts about the Nationals, including the trip to Cowra and back. That will create a thread where we can find the interesting stuff straight away. And of course those who can't make it to Cowra are welcome to post their comments on the thread as well!

Any posts about the actual Nationals event posted on this thread will be transferred to the new thread.
