| | ANNOUNCEMENT – 2012 VINTAGE CARAVAN NATIONALS « Thread Started on Feb 28, 2011, 10:21pm » | |
Hello everyone,
Here's the information you've all been waiting for - the location and dates for the 2012 Vintage Caravan Nationals. They are:
Cowra, NSW from Monday, 30 April to Friday, 4 May 2012.
Cowra was selected after a preference was expressed by a number of forum members for a location in the Central West region of NSW which would provide greater accessibility for V V’ers from Queensland (and Far North Queensland!). Venue
The venue for the Nationals will be the Cowra Van Park located at 2 Lachlan Street, beside the Lachlan River. You can check out the Park here.
Accommodation at the Cowra Van Park consists of:87 powered sites (some with annexe/awning pads, some without) 35 unpowered sites 11 en suite cabins accommodating 5 or 6 people Cost
The Managers of the Park – Craig and Michelle Constable – have agreed to fix the rates for all accommodation for the Nationals as follows:Powered sites - $27 per night Unpowered sites – $23.40 per night En suite cabins (5 & 6 berth) – prices to be confirmed
Some things you need to knowThe park is “pet friendly” (subject to conditions). The Cowra Van Park is one of the largest parks in the Central West region of NSW and we have reserved the whole park for the Nationals, but space is limited, so it’s a case of first in, best dressed! Because space is limited, we would appreciate it if those attending who can happily live with an unpowered site could take that option, leaving the powered sites for those who definitely need power. The Nationals are primarily and mainly intended for forum members and others with Vintage Caravans - but we are aware that some forum members have classic caravans, and that other V V’ers like to attend events with friends who come in non-vintage vans. All such people are very welcome to attend. Another option for those attending without a Vintage Caravan is to consider booking an en suite cabin. This will free up a space for another vintage van. The Nationals are partly about creating a spectacle of vintage vanning, but we do not wish to exclude anyone who would like to attend. People attending the Nationals are welcome to arrive before Monday, 30 April and to stay on after Friday, 4 May. The Managers have set aside the park for V V’ers for both the weekend preceding, and the weekend following the Nationals. Program
Cowra is a beautiful town, and the Cowra Shire Council is very excited about the opportunity to host the V V Nationals and has promised to assist us to plan a great program of events for the week. There will be more information about these events closer to the Nationals.
What you need to do
If you intend to come to the 2012 V V Nationals, we suggest that you book now because of the limited space!
1. Ring Craig at the Cowra Van Park on (02) 6340 2110 or email cowravanpark@internode.on.net 2. When you book your site please give Craig your forum name 3. Place a post on this thread letting us know that you’ve booked.
The purpose of steps 2 and 3 is to assist the moderators with their planning, and so that the moderators and the Managers can reconcile their records of who’s booked and who hasn’t.
Western Australia 2012 Vintage Caravan Event
The Western Australian Vintage Caravan crew are planning an event later in the year in WA to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the launch of the www.vintagecaravans.com website (as opposed to the forum). They have already issued an invitation to any V V’ers from the eastern states to join them. This isn’t a ‘one or the other’ situation. Forum members and other V V’ers will be welcome to attend either event or both. A few eastern states V V’ers have indicated that they expect to attend both.
Details of the Western Australian event will be posted in due course.
Any questions or suggestions?
If you have any questions about the 2012 Vintage Caravan Nationals, or you have some suggestions for the program of events at the Nationals, please feel free to post them on this thread or PM one of the moderators
We look forward to seeing you at the 2012 Nationals or at the event in WA.

G,Day cruz
Easter 6/9 april nsw school holidays 6/22 april We made it theses date so it does not clash with any thing else
Regarding dates: we have checked with the Van Park, the Cowra Council and the Council Tourist Bureau regarding those dates without any problems of clashing with local events, etc. The weather is also OK during any of those weeks (in so far as you can predict that 14 months ahead).
COWRA
Distances Adelaide – 1,069 kms Brisbane – 1,069 kms Melbourne – 682 kms Perth – 3609 kms Sydney – 308 kms

Hi all,
Just to add to the info provided by Firefighter in relation to Easter and school holidays, the list for all states is as follows:
Easter – 6 to 9 April School holidays (NSW) – 6 to 22 April School holidays (Vic) – 31 March to 15 April School holidays (Qld) – 31 March to 9 April School holidays (WA) – 6 April to 22 April School holidays (SA) – 6 April to 22 April Anzac Day – 25 April
The dates for the Nationals are set so as to avoid the school holidays in all states and NSW public holidays.

Hi All,
I agree with Kingy, Cowra is a lovely spot. I spent some time there a few years ago at a Hot Rod/Classic Car event.
For those that like a tipple, there are lots of great wineries in the area
I've booked in for 10 nights (at present) this might change closer to the time, depending on whether anyone else from QLD is doing a pre or prior to "Nationals" tour.
I'm on Site 49 (powered).
Regards Di

Hi All,
Yes, Cowra is a great choice - we love the town. It has a very good Japanese garden (though the cherry trees won't be in blossom in May) and some interesting World War 2 sites.
Mama Razzi and I have booked into a cabin from Mon 30 April to Friday 4 May.
See you there.
Papa Razzi

Hi All
Hubby, our little girl and I will be along from saturday evening 28 April through saturday morning, 5 May. We will be on site #23.
I think the inlaws might come along and stay in another local caravan park so they can come and perve at the spectacle.
Really looking forward to it -
Cheers Seeshell

We stayed at this park on our way home from Bright Rod run in 09 ................. beautiful leafy grassy park from memory ...........well kept with excellent manager s......... ...could 've been a bit noisy at the traffic road bridge end ..............so if you're a light sleeper , ask for a site at the other end of the park!! ...facilities were extremely well presented and kept very clean ........... ....very short walk to town( virtually right in town) ........onl y one problem .........put us on site 67 ....
....next door to Reddo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sutcacs
Congrats to all those involved organizationally.....well done ...great choice of park and location...... ...must suit alot of people........ ...Craig had 40/50 enquiries yesterday and 10 or so this morning!!
