Hi all,
Our names are Martin and Jan.
We are recent newcomers to the Vintage Caravan scene and have been encouraged to get a van by Firefighter and Sportsman1.
We have purchased a very original 1966 Vacation 15 footer from the second owner from new. Excellent condition with just a few small items requiring some attention. Hope to have it reregistered within a couple of weeks so we can join in on the fun.
We towed it home without incident behind Leigh's Landcruiser today and have it sitting in the backyard ready for a wash and detail tomorrow. Dean (hughdeani) came straight around after we got home and rang him and he reckons we have scored a beauty.
Tow car will be a 1969 Holden Premier V8.
As soon as we sort out photobucket, etc we will put up some photos. Until then if you are keen try a Google search for Vacation caravan ebay.
So long for now, Martin & Jan.

G'day Prem, Congratulations on the purchase of the Vacation. It looks to be in great shape, and I reckon is in the best condition of any Vacation we've seen on the forum (not that we've seen too many as it happens). There must be something special about Vacation caravans. Over the years there have been a few people come on the forum specifically because they are wanting to locate a Vacation van to purchase because of the happy memories they had holidaying in one as kids! I reckon you two will enjoy the van and create lots of happy memories in yours too! Enjoy! Don Ricardo

Late last week I succeeded in contacting the previous owner of our Vacation Caravan. He is a retired cabinet maker builder who worked for Evans Bros Undertakers in Ballarat in the 1960,s as a coffin maker in their joinery shop.
He told me he watched the caravan built as as a special order for the coming caravan show of 1966 . After the show the van was sold but traded two years later at which time he purchased it, which makes us the fourth owners not the second.
He confirmed Evans Bros Undertakers were situated on Humpray St South Ballarat, Maceys Carpets now occupy the site.
We are still compiling information and will post more details as they come to hand.
Jan & Mart

Hi Gilbert,
Martin does not get on the forum much these days but is still active with the van.
Yes it is registered and has been used a couple of times.
It (and them) will be at the Warburton Wizzbang Weekend Away this weekend. If you can call in and say hello.
Cheers, Leigh.

Hi Martin. Thank you for your help, in mine they had put a bigger fridge in so cut the hole bigger, so i am going to put it back to original and find the right size fridge. mine has bond wood sides tin front and rear it runs 240 volt and 12 volt was brought new but wasn't really looked after that great i have purchase receipt but doesn't have a date on it, i would really like to know what year it would be so i could find stuff to put in it for display. Regards Anthony. Gilbert is my second name.

I was told last week by an undertaker who comes in to the hospital i work at, he used to work for Henry Evans in main road Ballarat that there's not very many vacationer vans left so anyone who has got one hang on to them
