Jan & I have just returned from a 6200 klm trip from Melbourne inland to Prosperine ... no, not in the Globe Trotter, but in the Jayco. Yes I know what you are thinking, but it had a fair bit to do with the "comforts of life", said Jan! On the way back, we stayed at Forbes and spent a number of hours at the Museum which only opened in January this year. A wonderful collection of old cars and 1 vintage van. Max

Ooops, forgot to mention the caravan was a 1954 Carapark. I have more photos of other cars if anyone is interested.

Hi winterwood Really enjoyed the photos, great little van too What a great mix of vehicles in the Museum, I have noted in my memory bank to definitely spend some time there next trip through, I have never stopped in the town, too busy running up k's. Glad you mentioned the Motorbike Reddo, I completely missed it so went back through & found the little machine. Hand lever for gears? Dad spoke of having a bike with such a device Surf Tragic

Hi Whippy,
Forbes is on the Newell Highway in the central west area of NSW about 150 kms south of Dubbo. It is also 35 kms south of Parkes.
The movie "The Dish" - about Australia's role in the moon landing in 1969 - was filmed in Forbes, much to the disgust of the residents of Parkes where the actual moon landing action happened (at the Parkes observatory). Apparently the film makers considered Forbes more photogenic than Parkes. Ouch!! But it also tells you that Forbes is worth a visit.

Hi Max,
Thanks for posting those. There are indeed a few rare ones in there. The Lincoln Funeral car is different, and the buckboard with the doors missing looks like a mid 30's English Ford Y. Not many around now.
Cheers, Ron
