After speaking to Brett (Skyline59) today I realised I have not updated anyone on the (VERY SLOW) progress of Anna the Astronaut so thought I would share a couple of update pictures of Anna, and one of her tow vehicles Henry the EK sedan (he has an identical twin brother Harry N Wagon the EK wagon) Cheers Matt P.S. sorry for not washing them first, it was the day I picked Anna up out of storage for a while to do some more work on her, she is looking much better now P.P.S. just thinking looking at these pictures, should I continue the painted side flash through the door or leave it plain???

Thanks for the compliments everyone, I am definately thinkine the same regarding the stripe, suppose I just wanted confirmation of what was in my head before I modded the van, I love this van and takign a long time to do it right the first time, actually to say I love this van (and the EK's) is an understatement, but I still I think it will look even better with my wagon in front of it, the roofline will flow a lot better through to the van, what do you reckon? See Below for Harry

Hi Atstronauty,
I agree the stripe should be similar to the cars stripes, & continue across the doors.
But when the two towcars have slightly different stripes, maybe something combining the basic design & colour elements of both cars could work well.
You have a couple of really well looked after Holdens there. congratulations, & thanks for showing us.

Thanks JBJ, the station sedan is pulled apart at the moment for a full rebuild (SBC/T700 etc) the insert on the wagon is the only external difference between the cars and is being changed to the red anodised strip as we speak (great pick up on that!) so both cars will be identical interior and exterior only the mechanical drivelines will be different - but both are factory auto bodies.
I have just found a supplier to reproduce the original EK interior material (all I need now is to get a trimmer that has an RF weld machine to emboss pattern on them), so the Astronaut will be completely trimmed in matching vinyl to match the cars inserts and all, and custom venetian blinds to match the rear window venetians in both cars etc, even the floor carpets will be the same LOL, the overall concept is to take all the interior colours off the cars through to the caravan, Rose Coral, Barossa Burgandy, Snowcrest White and of course Chrome! I have even found new period styled lights in chrome and white (that look a million dollars) and fitte dthen last weekend.
Cheers Matt

Hi Astronauty A beautiful rig! Whats the VV weigh and how does the 138 handle the load? Does it have elec brakes or are you all original with vacuum? regards Jennison PS -Stripe across the door is my vote

Sutcac - Early has met the wagon years ago before I had doen any work to it, and I have checked out his range of cars at that time, was even treated to a blast (the only word for it) in the SBC EK, very neat!
Jennison - the grey seems to tow it well as the van is remarkably light keeping in mind I have only towed it for a few klm at a time so far to the storage shed and home a coupe of times. I will have to get it to a weighbridge for the exact weight, but I did upgrade to a Trimatic instead of the original Hydramatic. originally the van had hydraulic, but I will be switching to electric discs when I fit the new axle

Hi Astronauty That is the best combo, I think the wagon towing would look the ultimate but to me, both cars are the nicest cars of that badge I have ever seen , I would be proud to own either. ST

thanks everyone for the kind words, I have had the EK wagon for around 6 years and matching the caravan to my car was the main reason I fell in love with the Astronaut, the lines and fins etc all just blend perfectly, at the end of last year I was fortunate to find an identical sedan (admittedly with none of the accessories and conditioning he has now!) and have been workign hard to make a great matching pair of tow vehicles for Anna the Astronaut. The big picture was to set the caravan and wagon combo up to travel around Australia in the year 2012 (for the 50th Birthday of both of them) but looks like I will be a few years behind the target now that Henry has joined the stable, no complaints from em though!
Matt
P.S. Halps, the sedan is the same one as you saw, just looks much darker out of the direct sunlight
