I have found myself a 1964 Baravan in good restorable condition. Here is the picture the day I picked her up
I noticed a little water problem in the rear so I decided to repair.
The first move was to remove all rotted and damaged internal walls and frames.
The van gutted ready for the job ahead.
I also decided to remove the particle board floor as it was a little soft under foot and replaced it with a new external ply, this has been coated underneath with bitumen paint . It was easier to do this as I could access the frame for rust removal as well. I also re-welded in a new section in the lower rear and primed all the frame work.
I relined the van as it was with foil insulation to the rear.
The next lot of pictures is the side van internal re-cladding
First the board is fitted.
Next the window is marked from the outside.
The board is removed then the foil is taped to the board to the markings.
The board is then fitted and then the window is cut out.
The coupling is repainted with a new jockey wheel.
Note the gas bottle and spare wheel holder was kept. I removed one of the gas bottle holders as the gas fridge was cactus and no longer needed. The coupling is also new as the original was a 48mm and not very safe to use.
New wires to the rear of the van are in place to insure many more years of service.
The nose of the van was removed to repair a dent and reline the foil insulation. The original copper tank has been removed and cut open for a good clean. It will be re-soldered and replaced. All the original internal cupboards are being used. All joints are resealed to prevent future water damage.
I will place the next lot of pictures soon as it is an ongoing project.
If you have any questions or need any advice please contact me and thank you for reading my post.
Cheers
