Hi Harriet, I knew I'd seen that distinctive shape at the bottom of the front somewhere (where the edge curve steps down to the bottom rail), but I couldn't remember where! And yes, it is found on a number of the Globetrotter models (see them in our History section). So if you've found the remains of a Globetrotter logo under the paint, then it looks like that's what you have ;D It must be a pretty rare (or early) Globetrotter, because there are no port-hole windows in any of the photos of Globetrotters we have so far. It would be good if you could take a photo of the Globetrotter logo and post it here with your other photos. It will help us to add to the History about the Globes. I suspect all the metal cladding on the van has been added quite some time after the van was built. Probably the roof is galvanised metal, and the front and rear are aluminium cladding, with the original ply hiding underneath, maybe?? All in all, quite an interesting little van you have there!! cheers, Al.

Removed some of the aluminium off the front today and under it there is masonite that has been painted. The roof is metal and the back is masonite, and the sides are plywood. Would you remove the aluminium and go back to the original or leave the aluminium as is.

Harriet, thanks for at least attempting to get a photo of the logo. Does it look like any of the Globe logos in our History section? As far as the aluminium cladding goes, I personally think these old vans look much nicer if they are restored to look something like they did originally (...and I'm NOT saying totally original ) If you are not going to start work on the van in any hurry, then I'd leave the cladding in place to protect it. None of the information we've collected on Globetrotters so far has even remotely hinted at a van like the one you've found, so I think you've got something pretty special. The mixture of masonite and plywood in the construction is also something I haven't seen a lot of so far. You have to swear you'll look after it! ...or you have to sell it to me!! ;D ;D ;D ;D cheers, Al.
