Here is our new purchase
She is registered as a 1956 Paramount, 12’x6’7”.
The original owner ordered her in 1955 and took delivery in 1956.
Fifty years later at the young age of 91 years, he and his wife traded her for
a new van July 2006.
This is where we come in. Surfing the net I saw her on the Trading Post,
Fell in love and the rest is history. She is in amazing condition for her age.
All original with very little modification. And, she has portholes!!!
Check out the shine in the kitchen. Gas cooker works. Original pump tap and a
copper water tank under the front bench seat.
The wardrobe’s roomy and will hold heaps of Rock and Roll skirts. Yes, we are
a family of Rockers.
We are going to keep the original colours and will decorate to match. The upholstery will be rejunvenated but not replaced or changed. There are two blue light fittings.
The push switch on one is missing, so we will be on the look out for parts. There
are Bakelite switches by the door and at the back on the wall. She came with the original (slightly faded) red canvas annex, wood poles, ropes and tensioning blocks,
and also the poled canvas hammock which slots into the notched beams of wood above the front dining area, creating a bunk.
What a find we hear you saying!
I am now researching all things 1956 and have started collecting already. We
are Elvis fans and I’m sure there will be a little Presley influence somewhere.
Stephen is now on the lookout for a ’56 car to pull our beauty. What have we got ourselves into!!! I have spent many hours pouring over this great site and have learnt so much already. If anyone has any info on our Paramount we would love to hear from you.
Regards
Ann, Stephen and Kate (aged 11)
