Hi VV's, I am still a way off this part of my project but a digital printing mate of mine has made me a full digital reproduction of the sunliner decals (measurements taken from my van) for free. All I need to know now is what were the colours in the stickers? If anybody has a photo I would love to see a picture of it. Cheers, Adam

Hi Guys, I am sure my mate will make them quite cheap but I know he uses top signwriters vinyl and UV stabalised inks..he does as lot of commercial stuff. Rodnet, I am sure I can get you one or two once they are done (I know I could get as many made as needed, for some cost, if people wanted them) (surferh) but I need to get a colour photo of the original if they exist. The ones off my van did not seem to be black and white. The edge border was a kind of copper colour or maybe they made different versions of the decals over the years? I think I will consult Banno on this. Cheers, Adam

Evening all, Interesting question you've raised about the Sunliner signage, Billytribe. If we get an answer I'll copy it to the Sunliner thread in the Down History Lane section for the benefit of future Sunliner devotees who may need the info. From what I can see from the photos on the forum and elsewhere, Sunliner signage varied over time, at least in regard to what was on the front of the van. A lot of Sunliners appear to have had no signage on the front at all. This is evidenced by some of Sunliner's own literature such as this leaflet posted by Miaow: At the same time other Sunliner advertising such as this 1960 advert posted by Surf Tragic does show a nameplate at the front: This nameplate appears to be very similar in format and style to this one on a Skyline branded Sunliner: It is impossible to read the sign on the 1960 advert, but there is one interesting aspect to it - there don't seem to be enough letters to make 'Sunliner' but there are enough letters to make 'Skyline'...and the formation of the letters looks awfully like 'Skyline' to me! Could it be that the van in the Sunliner advert is actually branded Skyline? What do you all think? Back to the question of Sunliner signage, another example I have found is this pic posted by Chippydave: Again impossible to read, but it does seem to read 'Sunliner' and be done in grey and white - not exactly very striking. This photo is of a 15 ft Sunliner, but you can see another example of this signage on a 1967 Sunliner Victory model on the Our Touring Past website here. This would seem to suggest that this signage was used in the mid-60's to the end of Sunliner production. Is this the same as the one on your van that your mate is reproducing? Finally, there are some pics of the Sunliner models produced in the Geelong factory which have Sunliner written in very large letters diagonally across the side of the van to the left of the door. I presume this may have only been done for promotional reasons. I have a photo somewhere and will post it when I find it. Sorry the above info doesn't really answer your question Billytribe, but I hope it is of some interest. Don Ricardo

Gidday All, I have them in stock for anyone wanting them. The ones I have are exact copies from my van... Banno Now hang on there a minute, Banno. You just can't just say you have the Sunliner decals in stock without answering the question: What colours are Sunliner decals? That's what we're all hanging out to know! Well, some of us are anyway. The Sunliner sign on the van on your avatar looks to be the same as the sign on the van Chippydave posted the pics for, and the one on the Our Touring Past website. So does that mean the decals were white writing on a grey background? Or has the background faded, and if so what colour was it originally? Were these only on later model Sunliners with the inset front windows like yours and Billytribe's? Since my last post on this topic, I came across a photo of a Sunliner with a black and white decal...not sure where I saw it...ummm, let me think - nup, just can't remember... Is the decal on Hillbilly's van a reproduction of the original colours?? (Beautifully restored van by the way, Hillbilly. ) Here is the advert for the Geelong-built Sunliner I mentioned yesterday: (Source: Keith Winser, Australian Caravan and Touring Manual 1961, p 165) I've had a careful look at it, and - contrary to what I said previously - I reckon the Geelong Sunliners may have had this signage on them as standard. I don 't think it's just something they might have put on a demo model, but I may be wrong. Does anybody know for sure one way or the other? Don Ricardo

The early Sunliner 'script' was probably used only till about 61/62....then the one 'similar' to Banno's was used but............................................... I think you will find they highlighted in gold, as a previous post just mentioned "a kind of copper colour"

Like the" Sunliner ", on the side. Looks really retro, and funky.

My heartfelt thanks to the incredible amount of effort you guys, especially Don put into answering my original question! What a great read that was.
My thanks also to Banno for his help with this and my many other sunliner questions! Don, I think you have now raised even more questions for me. I am pretty sure my van is a 1963 model (but I am not 100% sure). At least you have proved me right in saying that the decals were not just black and white as rodnet thought.
Hmnn..now all I have to decide is what decals to use??!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. Adam (Billytribe)
