Evening all, A fortnight ago Jennison PM'ed me to tell me the following story: "Playing in the local tennis comp last nite and as you do, between sets, I was polishing my V V hubcaps! This started a conversation with the opposition before one announced that his dad lives in SA, and that he has a wood and canvas V V that he bought when this fellow was 2yr old (About 50yr ago). When asked what brand he promptly answered NOMAD!!!!!! I nearly swallowed the hubcap."The chap who told Jennison about his dad's van was Nev, and he has subsequently emailed us a couple of photos of the van in question (the one behind the Valiant s/wagon): When Jennison first heard about the van he thought it may have been a Jennison Nomad built by his grandfather in the late 30's. The van has 'Nomad' written on it, but - as can be seen from the pics - it is clearly a much newer van and not a Jennison Nomad. Judging from the style of the cambered roof and the aluminium windows, I am guessing a South Australian van built sometime after the mid-50's. What do others think? Nev has told Jennison that his dad "...bought the van second-hand from Keith Odgers caravans on the Main North road in Adelaide in about 1964". Don Ricardo

Hi Cobber. Sorry to disapoint but I dont think this has any thing to do with the Rows, but I would need to see an inside shot. I do remember reading about Nomad vans somewhere tho. And getting back to Rowvans, the third Row constructed van and sold under a different name was called a Farrell.
Cheers,
Trodler

G'day Don, Jennison, Trodler & all thrill seakers , ... Come on in my young friend, tell us what you know . Cobber. Cobber - Not sure whether you're referring to Jennison or Trodler or me, but we're all flattered! On this one though, neither Jennison nor I know any more than we've already posted. Trodler - I understand that Nev is trying to source some more photos of the van, including inside shots, from his Dad. However, Nev lives in or near the ACT while his dad is in SA, so it may take some time. The box section for the front windows is a bit unusual, but the rest of the van appears very South Australian in its design to me. Don Ricardo

My young friend, (no need to feel flattered Don... everybody's younger than me ) Interesting assertion you make that the third 'van constructed by Mr. Row and sold under a different name is “Farrell”. I found some photos of “Farrell” 'vans in a 1957 caravan and touring book and it looks nothing like a “Rowvan”..... but I think there are similarities between “Rowvan” “Playtime” and this “Nomad” . Cobber.
