Caralux caravans (Liverpool, NSW)

We still don't know a great deal about Caralux caravans. However, Trove reveals that they began advertising in the Sydney Morning Herald in July 1946. The first advert appeared on 13 July 1946.

These adverts both appeared in the newspaper on Saturday, 27 July 1946 (page 22):

The adverts tell us that at that point Caralux was producing 14 ft vans which were 6 ft 6 in wide, using Henderson chassis, coachwood interiors (indicating varnished furniture perhaps?), Seaply cladding, and 15 in wheels.

We are probably safe to assume that production had started well ahead of advertisements being placed in the newspaper, so that suggests that Caralux was probably in business prior to July 1946 - perhaps 1945 or early 1946 at least (and certainly earlier than 1947, contrary to the post above).  Of course they may also have been in production prior to WW II, but at this point we don't know whether that was the case or not.

The following article appeared in the Liverpool newspaper The Leader on Thursday, 6 February 1947 (page 1), and records that local caravan manufacturers Caralux, and Seal and Down, both participated in a procession as part of a 'Back to Liverpool' event:

Seal and Down were the manufacturers of Roven caravans.
