From Peter:
Dear Mark, Sorry I do not have an interest in Vintage Caravans but I do have a modern one. I just thought you must get enquiries from owners of discovered old vans and thought it may be of interest to someone as to the origins of a van named Moreland Caravans. They were of course Bondwood Vans and built by the father of a boy I went to state school with which was in the early 1950's. We were in the same 6th grade in 1953. How long he had been building them and for how long for he continued I do not know as after primary school we went to different secondary schools and went in different directions. I only know it was the Moreland Caravan Company and they were built one at a time in the backyard of their home in Munro Street. Coburg. Victoria. Do hope this May Be Of Some Help To Someone Peter

MORELAND CARAVANSManufactured by George Moreland 1 Alice Street, Coburg Vic 1955 Moreland advertisement and publicity:(Source: K Winser, Australian Caravans and Touring, Book 7, 1955, p 124) Moreland Caravans was first discussed on the forum back in June 2006 (see the post which begins this thread), but this is the first actual information we have about that particular brand. However, I've got an idea we've seen pics of one of these on the forum and were intrigued by the flat roofline and the triple, full width front windows, but couldn't identify it. If it rings any bells for anyone and they can find the photos, please feel free to post them. Don Ricardo

Cheers hughdeani Hi all, Hughdeani's suggestion that Moreland supplied caravans to Les Gough who badged them with his own brands was confirmed by photos of a Moreland caravan branded as a Burwood, one of Les Gough's brands (the other being Hawthorn as mentioned by Hughdeani). More details can be found on the DHL Burwood thread hereDon Ricardo
